Kaguya Pekoyama

Following the events of the last month, I've chosen to take up kendo to further my self-defense skills. Does anyone have any recommendations on good instructors in the city, or know anyone that I might be able to spar with?

Any leads are appreciated.

Wow, you must be pretty strong if you can handle kendo and swords at the same time!

Although, I shouldn't be surprised when you know martial arts!

Kaguya Pekoyama Nevertheless, you shouldn't be discouraged from learning to defend yourself based on how long it might take.

Kaguya Pekoyama I'm still not sure how I feel about them, to be quite honest.
Kaguya Pekoyama Regardless of whether or not they could be true, they feel real enough to be unsettling.

Yasusada Yamato If they suit you, you can keep them
Yasusada Yamato I used to save them for sparring with friends outside of the dojo but
Yasusada Yamato we haven't had time to use them in a while and we all have real swords now anyway
Yasusada Yamato I'd rather pass them on to someone who will use them like they deserve

[And here he is, freely admitting that he has Feelings about his kendo gear... y'know, in case it wasn't obvious enough that he's a weirdo.]

Jack Kelly Ain’t that the truth. All the ones I’ve gotten have left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe we don’t have full context for them, but I don’t think I’d want it if it means more of that, you know?

Kaguya Pekoyama I think I'd like to have more context myself, but that's only because of how strange some of mine have been. My curiosity overrules my discomfort.

Although, it would be problematic knowing that I'll have to balance time between this and college now too!

Kaguya Pekoyama No. I simply have my own reasons for starting with kendo instead.

It would be tough when I'm in computer engineering though!

Kaguya Pekoyama I would prefer not to. It's not something I am comfortable talking about as of yet.
Kaguya Pekoyama Regardless of my reasons, there's certainly no harm in hearing what options are available for picking up a new skill.

knowing your way around a knife's probably not a bad idea, don't you think?

Kaguya Pekoyama Personally, I'd prefer something less likely to get me maimed.

Kaguya Pekoyama Mostly, they're about a vacation on a tropical island, I believe.
