Is it really that weird to not celebrate your birthday?

It's not weird, but it is a little sad. Birthdays are supposed to be happy days, so if someone didn't want to it would mean that the day doesn't have good memories for them, right?

Are we talking about you...?

[ It seems like a logical conclusion! But... ]

I figured you would be asking for you or a friend. We don't really know each other so you don't have to tell me, but since you posted it seems like something that you want to talk about?

Oh! Well...

I'm sorry that your birthday isn't something that you look forward to. If you don't want to celebrate it you shouldn't have to!

But it's also possible that maybe if you do something different you can start to associate it with nicer things. Maybe then the memories won't be so bad?

Hmm...well, I think maybe your friends want to celebrate because they want to celebrate you! They're your friends, after all, so they're excited and happy for you! But if it's not something that you want to do, then they should be happy with that, too.

So, I guess I don't think you should do it just so your friends are happy. Not that I don't want your friends to be happy!
But I think if you were my friend and I found out that it was something you really didn't want to do and I forced you into it,
I would fee bad. That isn't the point of a birthday party!

Is it something you're interested in trying?

That's not really the same thing...

[ She is curious--if nothing bad has happened why wouldn't he want to celebrate? ]

Well, you could try and then decide for yourself!

Then be sure to pick out your favorite things to eat! That's the most important part of a good party.

[ ...At least to her?? ]

Yes! Because no matter what you do for activities,
good food means full bellies and happy people! And that includes your favorite birthday cake!

Mhm!

Food brings people together! It's perfect for any occasion. But birthday cakes mean that you get to pick whatever you want! So if you don't normally get to eat chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and marshmallows and strawberries with gummy bears on top? It's your birthday! No one can tell you not to!

Yes! It's because of things like this that people get excited to celebrate their birthday.

Yes! With this plan, your party can't fail.
