Happy 3 AM, fellow Retrospectres who can't/won't sleep because of all the nightmares and ghosts and memory fog and all that (and happy morning to anyone who checks their phone later, I guess)! I'm going to fall asleep if I don't start talking to someone soon and I'm trying to make it until dawn.

IF YOU ARE AWAKE RIGHT NOW, PLEASE WEIGH IN ON SOME/ALL OF THE FOLLOWING TOPICS (or you can message me when you wake up, that's fine too) :

-If this fog thing lasts for much longer, isn't it going to get in the way of Trick-or-Treating? If it rains (/creepy memory fogs) on Halloween, what do little kids (/university students who don't really get to celebrate Halloween in their home countries and would like to) do instead? Do I have to make backup plans or can we start some sort of safety Halloween caravan to protect the little kids (/occasional university students with no cool powers or survival instincts) from the monsters?

-Dave and I made a Finnish-language movie about magic pirates (and some other stuff, lots of symbolism, it's very deep), does anyone want to see it? -What are your top three coffee places in the city, I'm going to try all of them by the end of the month

-Is this better or worse than when half of us disappeared and there were monsters running around in the daytime

Technically it's a coffee bar - attached image - and I work at CUBEnix, but the bakery has the added bonus of fresh sweets to go with their coffee.

That is true! because I probably would not survive if I went on my own. Anything would give me a chance to survive better.

At least it's not one of those really terrible coffee dispensers, I guess. That's a better setup than I was expecting. Still a little sad?

It sounds like people who were here think August was worse, but the people who were gone say this one is. I don't have a large sample size yet but I think the difference is not knowing vs knowing. I will turn this into something deeper/more meaningful when I'm a little more awake.

Re: candies, I hope that they're something good like bingo was! Powers and hallucinomemories and things like that! But I haven't gotten anything yet, so it could just be a silly game, haha

Depends on what time of the year it is, really. Something we get a whole little coffee village going on with everyone bringing in more stuff. Course that's when we are working long hours.

Maybe because it sounded like those that were missing also had extra help out there. We didn't here.

I hope it wouoldn't be something sinister. I mean, like the candy coming alive and eating us or something.

I'm glad you step up your coffee game for longer hours, because honestly I don't know how I'd survive working long hours with just work coffee machines.

That might be part of it! But some people here had help too (not me, I wasn't able to go to the subway or the Retrospec building or wherever it was that people went to try to bring everyone home. But that's fine). I think part of it was because the ones who were lost knew they hadn't just... dies or stopped existing, but we didn't have any way of knowing if they were even still alive.

Iiiii did not think about the candy being a bad thing at all! I kind of wish someone had brought that possibility up before I got a lot of people to give me more.

I wouldn't either. That's why our interns double as coffee fetchers and treat wranglers during pre-launch coding.

Maybe, I did help through texting advice to a couple people, but other than that, my PA kept me on a short leash. So I didn't see a lot of what was going on.

It probably isn't that bad. It's just this month in general tends to be on the spooky side and we really don't know much of what these people are doing tbh.

Woah, do people really send their interns to get coffee? I thought that was just a thing in the movies.

Oh, some people got special top secret invitations to go to a cool hidden location and help solve the problem of the missing people. Not me. But some people at random.

We never know what these people are doing. But it would probably feel less ominous if it wasn't happening in October I guess.

My father is a big believer that working hard should also include duties like that and I don't see a reason to change that. I mean, even I had spent a few months interning and general office whipping boy.

I hope they're okay and not suffering from all that bs.

Well we do know that Janet gave in and married that guy, and we seem to have a few people working there or something, but yeah. No real facts ever come out of that place.

Huh! I mean my job is basically running around town getting stuff for my boss and buying supplies but it's in my job description, you know? Not like... I thought I was signing up for an office job and now I have to go get coffee.

All of that would be solved if anyone just... explained any of the weird things that were happening. Jim is just a jerk but none of the other nice employees have ever just said "hi everyone, here's what's going on, sorry about the radio silence!" It'd be so easy.

Internship isn't the same as a full office job. It's more of getting to know the system and the people and how it runs, and pretty much also being the office go-getter for when things are needed and we can't find anyone else. Lowest man on the pole gets the worse jobs, basically.

I might not make sense even if they were able to do so. I still think it is some kind of VR hack at one level but I don't know really.
