and to answer your questions about my first job, it was in a bookstore that was asking for help over the summer. getting it wasn't too hard, although i wouldn't call it simple. the owner was the more taciturn sort who strictly forbade food and drinks without a top, and the interview was a bit critical. but would i recommend it? one hundred percent. it was nice to get to work with people and be around literature.
