Yeah, the holidays are great for getting things cheap.
You gotta keep an eye out and make sure the prices really are on sale, though.

I mean, yeah.
Stores do that all the time.
They inflate the price then say it's on sale for the original price.
You've gotta make sure you know the price of what you're buying.

But I don't have the resources to devote to that kind of continual price monitoring. Isn't there anyone I can trust to be honest with me about good deals?

You should always double-check online to see if there's a better price elsewhere.
The holidays are especially bad for these kinds of fake sales.
