So clothes and plants being green again is super cool and everything but this is important enough to get its own post: I finished the second draft of my novel! Now I have to run it by some editors before I send the manuscript to a publisher. I've already edited it from my first draft, but other eyes won't hurt, you know? There are some people who already asked to see it (Fai) and some people I was going to ask to look at it (John B., please help me as my non-science-fiction-reading friend) but if you want to take a while to go through it and give an opinion or tell me if I missed a typo I'd be happy to send you the text! Chiyo, let's talk about cover art?

About half the people who go into literary criticism, I'd figure.

Maybe it was wise I stick to just academic reading for the most part.

What does that mean exactly?

Isn't life dramatic enough without fighting people online over whether a work is good or bad?

Probably, but I will die on the hill of defending my favorite authors.

So it's okay to defend others' great work, but you're not going to bother about your hypothetical own?

I'm not sure I get it.

Having an argument about my own work, hypothetically or not, is a great way to give myself a migraine. I'm a little more removed for other people's stuff.

Fame is tricky, isn't it?

If your name gets too big, you'll never be left alone. But if it doesn't get big enough, those with ambition wouldn't be satisfied with that.

It's hard to find a balance. And I know I could end up being hassled for getting famous, or not be famous at all. But I have to try.

To be fair, you don't know where you'll end up until your work is out there, huh?

Hahaha no. Not always.

Well, it's good you've made some companions somehow.

It's still strange, how connections are so spontaneous.

I think that's natural, that connections are stronger if they happen naturally instead of by you deciding that you're going to make friends.
