Also, I'm supposed to make a vague and mysterious informational post here but that sounded boring so I made a video presentation instead! Watch on YouTube Cheers! Jim Halloway Research & Development Retrspec Incorporated As of this post all apples, oranges, lemons, and limes have been replaced in-universe as the silly dancing fruits shown above. This means that as with Chocobos all NPCs will insist this is how things have always been and history/movies/etc will back them up. In honor of St. Patrick's Day characters will find a request from Retrospec to upload a picture of themselves to the network in which they are wearing something green. They will find themselves shocked lightly by their device if they try to use it without complying. Rude? A non-triggered memory regain can be earned through participation in this post in honor of Lucy's birthday the holiday with proof of a single thread with at least five comments from your character. If you plan to redeem this, please submit it to our regains page with the explanation of "March freebie". This must be submitted before April to be valid! Regardless of whether or not a character earns the freebie, all characters will find a gold coin with the Retrospec logo on one side and a Chocobo on the other. On the outside edge of the coin they will find "Jim, put a meaningful quote here. - Janet" engraved in a beautiful font. The Chocobo will morph into a horse should your character obtain the memory regain from the event; it will stay a Chocobo if your character does not obtain the memory regain. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently.

[Lucy made a comical spluttering sort of noise, which startled the cat back another arm length.]

[She glances over her shoulder, eyes going wide with (mostly) feigned innocence.] What? Is that so terrible? I thought it was cute.

[Lucy doesn't squawk again, but she does rub at one of her temples. The cat trundled back over to put his paws on her knee, chirp-meowing. You are not paying attention to cat, this is a travesty.]

Kind of hard not to. [Minako shoots Lucy an appraising look, then offers the out.] I know Ryoji can be a bit much. So if you'd rather not see him, that's easily arranged. He'll get pouty if I tell him you have too erratic of a schedule to meet up, but he'll drop it after that. [She says this fondly, turning her attention back to fruit-grabbing so Lucy can have a moment to think.]

[Lucy blinked, staring over at Minako even when the other girl turned away.]

Granted I wouldn't be able to do anything about him messaging you on Retrospec, but if that's what you want, then yes. Ryoji is my dearest friend but you're the one I actually live with. I don't want him to bother you. [She makes a small sound of frustration and pulls her phone out of her jeans to turn on the flashlight function, then continues.] In his defense, though, he's a sweetheart, and he genuinely wants to get to know you better. He's just very forward about it.

[She sighed, dropping her hand from her temple. She could just say no. And she really wanted to.

...on the other hand, Minako would be sad. And that was oddly painful to think about.]

[She shoots Lucy a grin, and even Koromaru is looking at her approvingly.] Great! Do you want to meet him by yourself, or...?

[Lucy's answer was immediate and a bit explosive.]

[The cat sprang away from her knee with his tail half-fluffed up, though he only ran a few bounds before stopping and looking back.

She took a breath in some attempt at calming herself.]

...I'll go with you.

[Score one for Operation: Friendship.] Sure! Let me know which of the coming weekends you're free and I'll ask him if you can come along to one of our outings. [She makes a little sound of effort and then jerks her arm back. The grabber follows, and right between the tongs is an energetically wiggling apple with a big smile on its face. Koromaru immediately whines and barks at it.] Whew! It was really wedged in there. What should we do with it now...?

[Lucy was already regretting this decision. She had been since she'd almost thrown her phone against the wall while talking to Ryoji.

--oh, right. Apple.

...distressingly smiling apple. She stared at it with great suspicion.]

I don't know. Throw it away?

[It was behind the fridge.

...it was Lucy's fault it was there to begin with. Oops.]

...I feel kind of bad for it, though. Maybe we could just. Let it out? Like how we let out spiders? [The apple wiggles even more enthusiastically at this. Koromaru sets his paws on Minako's legs, snapping his jaws in the air as if to try and get at it.] No, Koro. Smiling fruit are...er, they're not food but they're not friends either. Probably.

[Lucy makes a face and leans away from the apple, though the cat seems mildly interested.

The teenager scooted over on her knees to try and gently lift Koro away from Minako so she wouldn't have the additional obstacle to deal with.]

I guess so. Apples- [presumably] -aren't the weirdest things that have showed up in the stairwells.

[Koro allows himself to be carried away, though he's still eyeing the apple very warily. Nodding in agreement with Lucy, Minako heads to the front door and sets the apple down. It makes no attempt at getting back into the apartment, but it doesn't make to leave either. Minako gives it ten seconds, then nudges it with her foot. The apple rolls down the hallway a few feet, until it stops at their neighbor's door. She promptly closes their own.] There! Sorted.

[The teenager remains sitting on the floor, holding the dog in her lap, scratching Koro's ears, and watching Minako.

A corner of her mouth started to curl a bit when her roommate kicked the apple away, and let out an unexpected snort of laughter when she said that and closed the door.

Lucy seemed just as startled, all things considered.

But she laughed! Sort of! It happened! For less than a second, but it still happened.]

[Nothing escapes Minako's notice! She blinks once, then breaks out into the biggest grin ever.] Oh my god, Lucy.

[The teenager froze for a moment, blinking. Did...did she do something wrong? What did she do?]

[Minako has to stifle a giggle behind her hands. Lucy is just so cute sometimes???] Lucy, you laughed.

[The bite that was normally in her voice wasn't all there; she let out a huff, turning away.]

...that was weird.

[Or possibly the first time that's happened in months, that's important too.]

[Minako scampers over to Lucy's other side, beaming in earnest.] I don't think it was weird! You have a nice laugh.

[She shifts and rocks awkwardly in place, still trying to look away.]

Yup! [She laughs and lightly pats Lucy on the shoulder, knowing to back off now.] Anyways, now that the apple's taken care of, I'm ready for some well-deserved dinner. What about you?

[Lucy only froze at the touch instead of flinching or recoiling away. And after a moment she looked back, as if making sure that had actually happened. That...wasn't a bad thing either.

—oh, right.]

Uh—sure.

[Her supervisor was probably going to be very displeased at her taking off so early today. And "dancing weird fruit no one else sees" wouldn't cut it.

But that was something for tomorrow.]

Alright! Come help me with the spaghetti then, I need a lot of comfort food after how weirdly traumatizing today was. [And she prances off into the kitchen, Koro trailing after her.]
