Greetings and good evening, Ninja Warriors. With less than a week left before the big event, I think this is a fine time to hear some stories of your training exploits over the past few weeks. How have you been finding the course? Are you bonding well with your team — or, if you're going it solo, are you feeling confident about your chances of victory? Which obstacles are you finding a breeze, and which ones are proving to be your greatest nemesis? I want to hear all about it. As for me, I've committed to taking on the course while wearing a pair of these, and the Sandiego Foundation will be making a contribution to a charity of the solo winner's choice in the amount of one thousand dollars for every obstacle I clear. (Which I intend to be "all of them".) If you're interested in joining me in the attempt, let me know; we're happy to sponsor any and all takers in the fun. The big day is coming up fast, so remember to save the date, keep training hard, and I'll be looking forward to seeing all of you out there next weekend!

Laurent isn't strictly interested in Ninja Warrior but, maybe for charity? Also, he could use a good distraction from worrying about his brother in Paris. ]

We do not have this sport in Paris, that I am aware. I have no interest in playing to win a competition, but for charity I may try. I see it is an obstacle course of sorts?

That's right. It's a set of eight obstacles that test a competitor's strength and agility — there are some that involve quick feet and good balance, and others that take upper body strength, and so on.

That sounds feasible.

[ He does go to the gym regularly, he isn't out of shape. Although this is a little less... elegant than he's used to. ]

I could likely generate some sponsorship of my own, too, although I'm not certain about the heels.

[ He could pull them off as a look, he thinks, but he doubts he could run a course in them. ]

I'd certainly encourage you to do it. Charity is charity; if someone wants to contribute in their own way, I'm hardly going to dissuade them.

Is there a challenge you'd like to undertake instead? Not heels, but something else?

Is running the obstacle course itself not challenge enough?

I've no real experience, I wouldn't know what was suitable for this sort of thing.

It's certainly challenge enough. I'm just talking about doing something to stand out.

You could try running it in costume, for example.

I'm used to standing out without trying. A costume could be a good idea, however.

[ Thought it wold have to be something not too impossible to run in, and that wouldn't overheat him or make it hard to breathe. ]

I like your confidence. You can make it as elaborate or minimalist as you like, of course — the point is just to generate interest, at the end of the day, and it sounds like you're already well aware of your natural advantages toward achieving that.

Quite aware. I'll see what I can do. Is there a deadline for signing up, if I'm not intending to win?
