Hello and happy new year! A lot of poll results came in from R&D and we've almost fixed taste all the way. Horses are almost fixed, too. We've been working pretty much non-stop around the holidays to stabilize everything, so I hope this works! Just so you guys know, while we were working on fixing the original problems we received some alerts of residual effects outside of our usual domain. Don't worry though! Remember what I said a while ago? We're still moving more resources around into better defenses to protect the city from huge storms like last summer. We'll be taking care of that really soon and isolating the unknown problem. I wish I could tell you more, but we're all working overtime here to finish the final stages of a big project. No matter what happens you guys should be safe while we finish up, so just stay calm, okay? Don't get too reckless! Knowing we used to be like that makes it even odder.
It's concerning how effectively they're kept oblivious and accepting. They can still cause trouble; I certainly have a regular case load at work as an ADA. Yet they all behave in the way Retrospec wants them to.

Now there's an interesting question. If Retrospec is directing the movements of all of the sleepers, then why are some of them still committing crimes? What social purpose does crime serve?

The first guesses that come to mind:
1. It's a sign that while they are not on the app sleepers do at least retain some free will.
2. To create the illusion of a realistic society. If there was no crime it would be suspect.

That concept was referenced in that one mid-nineties film, wasn't it? With Keanu Reeves, about the human race living out their unsuspecting lives inside a virtual computer program.

One of the early editions was too perfect, and so the human race rejected it as impossible to comprehend.

I think I know which movie you're referring to. I remember the other students talking about it when it first came out.

As a whole Recolle is definitely one of the more peaceful cities in the nation. No gangs and no mob activity. We could simply be lucky but it's hard to believe anything is coincidental these days.
