retrospec | TEXT ✍ participation is voluntary

Hello. In light of recent speculation, the publication of a comprehensive guide, and the one year anniversary of the Retrospec App's release, I'm putting a survey forward in regards to some of the personal affects of being a Retrospec user. You can see by my profile that I haven't been a user for very long myself, so the breadth of my knowledge has come from limited personal experience and the willingness of the user base to share. I'm asking for that again, if you're able to participate.

I'm hoping to find some sort of pattern in acquisition of memories and skills, whether by the nature of the skill and/or memory, the catalyst, the timeline, etc. Given the time consuming nature of personally reaching out to each member, I've provided a form below that you can fill out at your leisure. As stated in the disclaimer on the form, participation is voluntary and may be kept confidential if you prefer. I'll be compiling the data and making it available for the community in two weeks time, if a sufficient number of responses are received.

- Provide more detail/specifics if you'd like: The papers are most likely some form of technology, so I'm not sure whether to classify them as an ability or not. They're nothing I would normally acquire, though. [Not mentioned: his sword and his magic, because he doesn't trust this person enough to mention the former, and he's completely unaware of the latter ¯\_(ツ)_/¯]

"Cards" is an interesting one. Any specific kind of cards? Playing cards? Tarot?

I haven't seen them in my memories as of yet, but the person I share memories with received a few of them from Retrospec last month. They're long like tarot cards, but the artwork doesn't quite look like the kind you'd see on those sorts of things. [At least, not to his knowledge. Mystical stuff wasn't Xiaolang's cup of tea.]

From what we've been able to gather, they were created by some man named Clow, and they have the potential to cause a world-wide disaster if they're not collected in a timely manner. They have certain... abilities that activate when placed next to a specific trigger, so I can see them being a danger when placed in the wrong hands.

So they're not actually predicting something, they're actually the cause of it?

I doubt even normal tarot cards can predict the future, but... yes. To a degree. We don't know the specifics behind it as of yet, or what the disaster could possibly be.

There may have been some sort of other incentive behind collecting them, though, given I was in a... rivalry of sorts, with my classmate.

Both... I think. In a few of my memories, we're wearing similar uniforms, so I can assume we're in the same school, but maybe not the same class.

I don't know if it counts as a 'theme', but I'm around ten years old in all the ones I've received so far, too. My classmate's... adoptive father says he has memories of me too, but he says I'm a bit older. I'm not sure if this is a common thing, though.

Interesting. Has he given you any specifics? I'm curious if this would cause you to regain any of the visions he's seen too.

Not really. He said that the older version of me referred to my classmate as 'the princess of my country', and hinted that I may have been her bodyguard, but nothing more detailed than that. I'm sure if he knew more, though, he'd tell us as much.

It'd help if it did, though. None of my memories seem to give any clues about being involved with royalty, but it's possible it's something that could have happened during that stretch of time between what I remember and what he remembers.
