retrospec | TEXT ✍ participation is voluntary

Hello. In light of recent speculation, the publication of a comprehensive guide, and the one year anniversary of the Retrospec App's release, I'm putting a survey forward in regards to some of the personal affects of being a Retrospec user. You can see by my profile that I haven't been a user for very long myself, so the breadth of my knowledge has come from limited personal experience and the willingness of the user base to share. I'm asking for that again, if you're able to participate.

I'm hoping to find some sort of pattern in acquisition of memories and skills, whether by the nature of the skill and/or memory, the catalyst, the timeline, etc. Given the time consuming nature of personally reaching out to each member, I've provided a form below that you can fill out at your leisure. As stated in the disclaimer on the form, participation is voluntary and may be kept confidential if you prefer. I'll be compiling the data and making it available for the community in two weeks time, if a sufficient number of responses are received.

Since you're someone who did experience physical changes, did you see your other self with this appearance for the first time before you mirrored it?

Actually, no - I had only one actual memory involving anything I did at the time, and it wasn't as though there were any reflective surfaces around. So it was a little jarring, to say the least.

Yes, I imagine so. Were you able to see your appearance in your memories after the changes?

I've only gotten one other that was worthwhile, and I was a bit...distracted by other things that were going on. Surely you know how it goes?

I have remembered a sister of mine, however, and she looked very similar to me. Jarringly so. That's the closest I've gotten so far.

I see. For physical changes I'm curious if there's a greater likelihood of seeing a change in ones memories before acquiring it in person, obviously. I'm not sure I've found that yet. It really may be random.

From what I've heard, it may be. Unfortunately, I haven't spoken to enough who have to have a solid idea, myself.

I'm also curious about your choice of word "locations". Are these locations on Earth?

Not to my knowledge, no. They don't look like any place I've seen - the closest is one of those high fantasy-type cities that looks as though it took obvious inspiration from Mont Saint-Michel while being obviously distinct from it - and the animal life is completely different to anything we have here. A fair amount of the memories I've gotten back have been information about the cities I've seen and things that happen to be in them.

It's all rather useless to me, but I suppose it's all things I would have known back then.

Well, if people really are being transported places into the Unreality, and if we really are from different worlds, then your knowledge may come in handy.

[It's really not. Like, it's all reasonably pleasant and then he's gonna remember dying in a week. But you can't have anything.]

Given how many people are here to begin with, I'd say the chances of me knowing anything that will prove useful is a little unlikely. But I'll take the vote of confidence anyway.
