retrospec | TEXT ✍ participation is voluntary

Hello. In light of recent speculation, the publication of a comprehensive guide, and the one year anniversary of the Retrospec App's release, I'm putting a survey forward in regards to some of the personal affects of being a Retrospec user. You can see by my profile that I haven't been a user for very long myself, so the breadth of my knowledge has come from limited personal experience and the willingness of the user base to share. I'm asking for that again, if you're able to participate.

I'm hoping to find some sort of pattern in acquisition of memories and skills, whether by the nature of the skill and/or memory, the catalyst, the timeline, etc. Given the time consuming nature of personally reaching out to each member, I've provided a form below that you can fill out at your leisure. As stated in the disclaimer on the form, participation is voluntary and may be kept confidential if you prefer. I'll be compiling the data and making it available for the community in two weeks time, if a sufficient number of responses are received.

This is the first time I've heard of someone losing something as opposed to gaining it. Was this something you might have gleaned from your memories or was it completely new when it happened?

yeah well surprise
i'm not the only one who's lost stuff there's just fewer of us
i know there's someone else here who lost an eye thanks to retrospec

but no it was new to me
still is
i don't remember ever losing an arm or anything
for all i know retrospec just took it to screw around with me

An eye? That's equally gruesome.

Normally my assumption would be that these changes are supposed to bring us closer to our "other self". This seems unnecessarily gruesome.

if you ask me EVERYTHING they do to us is unnecessarily gruesome
especially bc they'll maim you and then leave you to pick up the pieces
no help with getting prosthetics or anything

i still think they did this to me just to mess with me bc they love to test out murphy's law on me
but i wouldn't be surprised if this did happen to my "other self" either
i may not remember it but it wouldn't be a huge shock if i did

This is arguably one of the most extreme changes. It's interesting seeing that some people are mentioning things as mundane as high school while others are experiencing things like this. I could say this gives credit to the theory that this really did come from different, fragmented worlds, but unfortunately this sort of things happens in this world too, Retrospec not needing to be involved.

I hope this is the worst of what's happen to you so far?

oh it's def the worst one
followed by sending me the actual corpse arm in the mail
that one's a close second
and they sent that one to me BEFORE actually amputating me so i didn't even know it was mine at first

for a few months there were three arms in the world with my prints on em
now there's just one
or maybe two
assuming that they kept the detached one they sent me and it wasn't totally burned to ashes
