A wish.
[ The Holy Grail. He does not recall exactly what it is, but from what he gathers from the brief memory with the "King of Heroes," it is something to wish upon. And Kei's other self would allow that man to "wish for death." What does that mean? No, he understands it simply, but there is more said and unsaid than he can unravel. ]
With all this business going on, some frivolousness ponderings might be an enjoyable distraction.
Well, then. If you could wish for anything, what would it be? [ A pause. Kei thinks of sending it like that yet he feels that may be too telling. Too telling of what? He's uncertain, but adds more to cover up his uncertainty. ] Though, with Valentine's Day is coming, most are thinking of just wishing for someone to spend that day with, hm? :)

I don't have a wish, unfortunately.
So it seems like we are in the same boat.

Assuming it didn't turn into a monkey's paw situation.

Sorry.
I had a memory come to me of something talked about that granted wishes.
That is where this all comes from, Sakura.
The way that it was talked about sounded like a monkey's paw.
But I don't know why.

Did it happen to have a name?

The Holy Grail.
How odd, don't you think? The Holy Grail that I know of would not be able to grant wishes. It isn't anything like that, and so I am baffled after the naming, and why it leaves me with a sense of foreboding. [
Well. A dude in his memory just manifested in his room and said he was going to wish for the extermination of mankind, but sure, foreboding in general is fine, you nerd.]no subject
In lore it's a cup that grants immortality, or eternal youth.
But the one you speak of sounds much more powerful.

How could something that could grant such things be capable of granting wishes?
Especially wishes that could affect the entire world?
I have no idea.
no subject
I can't imagine that kind of scale.
How did something like that come into being in your memories? Do you remember?

I do. It was in an idle conversation that I was having with someone. I say idle, but the manner in which we were talking was serious. Nothing that was said made any real sense to me, however. It is like when you speak to friends -- you are talking on topics and past without describing either one yet know what the other is referring to because it is part of your history with one another. But for me, it felt like half a conversation.

Still, if such a thing exists in that past world, I would think people would be searching for it. We have accounts of people in this world looking for a Holy Grail, though most write it off a a legend.

Yet the way that I was speaking about it made it sound solid and real. It didn't feel like I was searching for it. Or rather, that I wasn't searching it out hard. One would think that with such a powerful artifact that it would be sought after. So why wasn't there a furious search for it? Just calm conversation about what the wish would be at the end. Like it was simple.
The Holy Grail and its power. It's beyond imagining and yet it was within my memories.

But I don't think your memories would lie to you, so maybe the point was just obtaining it through whatever means.
no subject
[ What is it that he told him? Gilgamesh could wish whatever he wanted so long as no one else defeats him? But who wouldn't want to fight a man that wants to wish for the extermination of mankind? ]
no subject
But if someone knew where such a powerful artifact was, then the searching part would be over, right...? It's just a matter of getting it somehow.

Sakura. I must first apologize for the way that I speak. I was unaware the way I talk was so agonizingly slow to people. No, that's incorrect. I was fully aware of it, but I rarely talk too long with anyone so I never thought to correct this habit.
Second, I know how one obtains it -- the Holy Grail. It is the prize at the end of the Holy Grail War.

[Whaaaat okaythen]
I don't mind -- the way you speak, I mean. You always give me things to think about. [Even if it takes an hour to get to the point, that's still cool with here]
Did you have another memory then?
no subject
And I suppose I am feeling annoyed at the memory I received. It is listening to me talk for a long, long time. Most feel some anxiety over having to hear their own voice recorded, so there's nothing odd about my feelings. I don't mind the sound of my voice, but I am not in love with it.
[
You sure about that?]no subject
Or you needed to make sure whoever you were talking to understood exactly what you meant.
no subject
The weight of it is crushing. Indeed, I didn't fully comprehend it all and may have asked the same questions as that young man. Well, it sounded like a young man. I'm afraid that I only heard the voices and didn't see anyone.

Though if it was a war going on, it wouldn't make much sense to accidentally stumble into it...
no subject
It wasn't an accident. At least, not by the standpoint of the Holy Grail War. It would appear that the Holy Grail itself is what chooses the people that will fight in it.

It's the one that chooses what is to happen. The Holy Grail War is but a ritual. A ritual that the Holy Grail itself chose. It seems like an egotistical item that is fully aware of its power and worth. As such, it will only allow one of the seven that it chooses to claim a wish.
no subject
It sounds like it would be a very bloody ritual.
