004. With no alarms, and no surprises

For those of you who were wondering what happens if those insipid little stones we were given break: I still wouldn't necessarily recommend it until we're certain that it's absolutely nothing, but...

It's more aimless than anything. I don't feel as though anything is wrong, though I've been strangely despondent lately, in a way that I'm usually not.

Why do you ask?

I get that way sometimes too, but it has nothing to do with the stone. Might be the same for you, I don't know.

Someone broke mine and she seemed worried about it. I was hoping to get a second opinion to assure her that everything's fine.

Well, you're not going to die and you won't have any sort of physical problems. Mentally and emotionally, I haven't really noticed much that's different in its absence other than the odd lack of motivation, but that may be unrelated, it's difficult to say.

Honestly, other people seem more concerned about it than I see any reason to be.

Not dying is good; that's the first thing we confirmed. How are things otherwise? Are you in the city, or elsewhere?
Can't really fault them for it. Some people's stones represent very special things to them, so they'd be wary of having it broken.

I'm in the city, yes. So no extenuating circumstances or anything, save what's been going on with the officials.

Do you recall what yours represented?

I heard about the mayor and stuff. Feeling anxious about their situation can do it.
Not really. Never really gave much thought about it, before. A friend told me it was about people who were special to me, so I guess it must have been friends or family or something like that.

Likewise, with regards to remembering. I think that's why people are oddly upset at me about it, in my case.

Mm. If it was something important enough to be upset about it breaking, I think I would remember. But this way, it doesn't really matter.
