russian intensifies

[When you wake up on this fine morning and check your Retrospec feed, you'll find... Russian spam? It begins - ]

Доброе утро. Меня зовут Аня. [ - and it continues on from there, resulting in a full paragraph.

For anyone who can read Cyrillic, they'll find the following message: Good morning. My name is Anya. Is anyone able to understand this? I recognize it as Cyrillic, as Russian, however I don't recall ever being able to speak this language. I woke up and suddenly it's all I knew. If the people on here remember horses, maybe they remember me speaking differently? Properly? Maybe? Please let me know.

In an entirely separate text, she tries again. In two more languages.]

おはようございます。私の名前はAnyaです。わかりますか?これは日本語です。でも昨日でAnyaは日本語を話しません。

[ - and that also goes on. An English message, with the same approximate fluency level as the Japanese, to explain the whole situation is finally provided at the end. Third try's the charm?]

good morning. my name is anya. i am sorry to try again but i am confused. today i know how to speak russian and japanese. the russian is easy but the japanese is harder. english is also harder now. even though yesterday i only spoke english?

??? why?

if the people here remember horses do they remember the anya that did not know russian? please help. please. thank you.

[ ACTION ]

[ a: авария

Normally Anya is full of life. There's a skip in her step, there's a smile on her face, there's a whole-hearted willingness to tackle the day and everything that it brings her. It was easy to call Anya cheerful and friendly.

That doesn't appear to be the case anymore.

She avoids her friends. She ducks her head and doesn't make eye contact at school. She doesn't open her mouth to speak once, brows furrowed and lips pressed into a thin line.

Yet with her head bowed as it is, it's hard to steer clear of others, isn't it? Which is why she bumps into you - somewhere. She still wanders, even if she isn't at her best. Whether it's at school, at the dance studio, wandering around the city, she seems to have accidentally run right into you.

Startled, she exclaims in smooth Russian:]

Извините! [Then her eyes widen and she seems to pause, having to take a sincere moment to recall the words she's looking for. Even now, a distinct Russian accent colors her words.] Ah, um... I'm sorry...

[There's no helping the sad, defeated look on her face - but Anya is still a very gentle girl. Even though she wants to be by herself, she finds herself looking up to whoever she ran into uncertainly.]

Are you okay...?

[ b: секрет

Distracted as she is, Anya isn't really noticing any of the secrets that are posted around today - or her own. So there's a neat little sign posted on her back, whether it's detailing something small like:]

i ) Anastasia sometimes sneaks out to climb the rooftop of her house even though her mother has told her not to.
ii ) Anastasia used to be a cheerleader.

[Or something a little bit more telling like:]

iii ) Anastasia doesn't like to be left alone.
iv ) Anastasia is too scared to be an idol anymore.

[ ooc: anya's regain was her canon language tick! an example can be found here! complete with sprinkles of Russian and accent. an additional note is that if you hover over the different alphabets, the exact translation should come up! AND FINALLY, Anya's hair used to be the lightest shade of the blonde in the world - and now it's gone full silver, but that's the least of her problems.]

Yes, this is exactly what I mean. And you are not pulling the leg on us, I assume. I do not entirely understand how this is possible. I have seen some things lately that defy even the most broad of imaginations.

Are you well otherwise?
true_noir: (Hmmm)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-03-07 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
It is not that I think you were lying? It is that what you are saying is impossible, as impossible as singing and dancing fruit and horses becoming chocobos. I don't know that I think anyone right now is really deceiving, other than Souji, who is just being silly.

But it is a hard thing to believe, yes?

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-03-07 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I am willing to believe, but at this point I feel I must at least attempt a brief skepticism. Just in case.

However, I am unsure what to say. I cannot even begin to imagine why your English would grow poor and the languages appear in your mind. iIt is like something in your mind is being rewired, and that is terrifying to imagine.
true_noir: (Hmmm)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-03-07 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[And Chloe isn't sure how to help, so she went with the most obvious thing to ask right at that moment, even if it might not have been that useful.]

Is there something I can do to help? If you wish to return things to normal, you could always come with people out to places where everyone speaks English. It will come back quickly to normal, I imagine, yes?

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-03-09 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Accents take time to lose, and I've never quite lost mine. But, the English definitely becomes much easier the more that you use it. You should be back to normal mostly soon enough, rather like riding a bicycle.

And besides, if it is any consolation, many people think a Russian accent is attractive. You must always look for the silver linings somehow.
true_noir: (I prefer smirking smugly to smiling hone)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-03-09 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps not today, but one of these days, it would not be terrible to be thought that way, would it? Unless you already have your heart set, of course, in which case you just need it to be attractive to them.
true_noir: Aged-Up Commission (Oh?)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-03-11 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Quite so, though I do not wish to tease too much. This is meant to be fun, to take away some of the concern.

If you are getting asked too much, then perhaps it is not so good a tease to have. I wasn't aware that there was so much interest.

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-03-11 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. You needn't say more. I don't wish to pry further, but then. We will simply have to find the other silver lining. Something that you can enjoy about this, even as we get your English back, yes?

After all, knowing many languages is very good for finding jobs.
true_noir: (Cloak3)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-03-11 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It depends upon the job, does it not? There is a good market for translators and interpreters, and in business if you trade with them, it is good to know the language. Many jobs, no. But it would be good for some very well paying ones.

It is not bad to have a safety net, if there are problems with your dreams. But, first focus on those. You should be able to seek out your dreams one way or another, I think. Options never need to take the place of one's hopes.

Sorry for being a little confusing. It is a confusing situation, yes?

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-03-12 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
You have a point. And it seems you have a lot of people helping. So, that should mean that you get the right advice somehow. You have quite a few friends, don't you Anya?

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-03-14 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
It will be ok. One way or another, it will be ok. And, I think at this point that we can all work together, since we seem to be dealing with many of the same tings. No reason to do this alone, yes?
