russian intensifies
[When you wake up on this fine morning and check your Retrospec feed, you'll find... Russian spam? It begins - ]
Доброе утро. Меня зовут Аня. [ - and it continues on from there, resulting in a full paragraph.
For anyone who can read Cyrillic, they'll find the following message: Good morning. My name is Anya. Is anyone able to understand this? I recognize it as Cyrillic, as Russian, however I don't recall ever being able to speak this language. I woke up and suddenly it's all I knew. If the people on here remember horses, maybe they remember me speaking differently? Properly? Maybe? Please let me know.
In an entirely separate text, she tries again. In two more languages.]
おはようございます。私の名前はAnyaです。わかりますか?これは日本語です。でも昨日でAnyaは日本語を話しません。
[ - and that also goes on. An English message, with the same approximate fluency level as the Japanese, to explain the whole situation is finally provided at the end. Third try's the charm?]

Normally Anya is full of life. There's a skip in her step, there's a smile on her face, there's a whole-hearted willingness to tackle the day and everything that it brings her. It was easy to call Anya cheerful and friendly.
That doesn't appear to be the case anymore.
She avoids her friends. She ducks her head and doesn't make eye contact at school. She doesn't open her mouth to speak once, brows furrowed and lips pressed into a thin line.
Yet with her head bowed as it is, it's hard to steer clear of others, isn't it? Which is why she bumps into you - somewhere. She still wanders, even if she isn't at her best. Whether it's at school, at the dance studio, wandering around the city, she seems to have accidentally run right into you.
Startled, she exclaims in smooth Russian:]
Извините! [Then her eyes widen and she seems to pause, having to take a sincere moment to recall the words she's looking for. Even now, a distinct Russian accent colors her words.] Ah, um... I'm sorry...
[There's no helping the sad, defeated look on her face - but Anya is still a very gentle girl. Even though she wants to be by herself, she finds herself looking up to whoever she ran into uncertainly.]
Are you okay...?
[ b: секрет
Distracted as she is, Anya isn't really noticing any of the secrets that are posted around today - or her own. So there's a neat little sign posted on her back, whether it's detailing something small like:]
i ) Anastasia sometimes sneaks out to climb the rooftop of her house even though her mother has told her not to.
ii ) Anastasia used to be a cheerleader.
[Or something a little bit more telling like:]
iii ) Anastasia doesn't like to be left alone.
iv ) Anastasia is too scared to be an idol anymore.
[ ooc: anya's regain was her canon language tick! an example can be found here! complete with sprinkles of Russian and accent. an additional note is that if you hover over the different alphabets, the exact translation should come up! AND FINALLY, Anya's hair used to be the lightest shade of the blonde in the world - and now it's gone full silver, but that's the least of her problems.]

[ . . .
yeah. okay. about 70% of social interactions Noah has involve punching or growling. He's probably not the best to come up with casual conversation topics]
What about...food?
no subject
Noah likes food?
[Despite herself, she smiles a little bit. This is slightly more familiar territory for her as she tries to force friendship on him.]
Mmm. I did not have Голод... Hm. I did not finish my food earlier? Because I had too many thoughts.
Would you like to share with me now?
no subject
Oy, don't make it sound weird. Fucking everybody likes food!
[GOD.
But oh, offers of food. He likes offer of food]
Eh? You sure you want to share?
no subject
She smiles brighter at his response to her offer though and nods, pulling her backpack around her so that she can pull out a small bento box.]
Да. Yes, if you would like some.
Today it was Mama who made it. She always makes more than I can eat. We can разделять? Both have some?
no subject
Oh, uh, sure. Okay.
[> Anya has now learned the trick to pacifying Noah]
no subject
She's definitely keeping this in mind for the future.]
Please наслаждаться. Enjoy. I hope you like it.
no subject
[Then he gets handed the chopsticks. Being a guy from the UK, um, yeah....]
Er, wait. How do I...? [HOW DO CHOPSTICKS WORK???]
no subject
Ah, like this!
[She'll? Give him a demonstration? Oh god.]
no subject
He tries and....yeah- shit this is hard. His hold of them is definitely awkward and too tight]
Like this??
[THIS IS HARD MAYBE HE SHOULD JUST STAB THE FOOD]
no subject
[Which is where Anya being way too forward is going to come in as she steps forward and just -
Gently rearranges his hand with careful fingers.]
Not as tough. Um. More... nicely? [not quite the word-] Gently!
no subject
But it's for food so he lets her do it. just you know, he'll watch her...with caution-!!]
Gently...? [he loosens up his grip some.] Like this?
no subject
So she thinks it's okay for her to keep helping him by rearranging with one hand, her other hand still holding up a proper model of how to hold them.]
Better. [A nod.] And the top goes up and down so you can eat.
no subject
Like that? Okay...thing I got it.
[Okay time to test this out! He reaches down to grab a piece of food from the bento box. slowly and careful. It takes a few swipes, but he manages to grab it and lift it--
but it gets about an inch before it slides off and drops back into the box]
- fuck.
no subject
He can either just straight up eat it or try again with his own chopsticks.
She clearly does not care.]
Here?
no subject
[He's pausing, unsure of what to do. It is tempting to take the food right off the chopsticks. But...but he has pride.
So instead he'll try to reach out with his own chopsticks and grab it.]
Tch!
[And this time...he manages it! And it actually reaches his mouth. He tries to look grumpy while he chews it, but man that's hard because it does taste good.
Dammit. Why is it so hard to tsun with food]
no subject
хорошо! Good job. Is it tasty?
Mama's cooking is good, yes?
no subject
Yeah, it's good. Your mum's a good cook.
no subject
She is! Mama is wonderful.
Tomorrow it is Anya's turn to cook. I will make extra for Noah too.
no subject
You know how to cook?
no subject
Да. Yes. Mama is busy a lot so Anya learned how to take care of herself.
[Which - you wouldn't think, considering how naive she can get?? But she's lived pretty independently. So there's a smile.]
Is there something you want to eat? Something определенный? Um... I will make it special for you!
[she didn't have the word for "specific"]
no subject
[Honestly. He feels weird asking for a favorite food. Especially when he doesn't have a favorite- he likes MOST food.
But on the other hand...this might come in handy]
No, that's fine. I was-
Uh.
[How to ask]
Actually...do you think you could show me sometime?
no subject
Show you? To учить? Teach...? [Though with that, Anya will offer an easy-going smile and a nod.]
Of course I would like to. Next time when I cook dinner, would you like to join me?
[He could come over in the morning but that would put them in a rush? The only other time she cooks is when her mother's out so...]
no subject
Tch- look it's just 'cause I'm living with a cousin right now, and she can't cook worth a damn. That's all.
[He just wants to not eat take out every night okay!!]
...F-Fine.
no subject
If you want... Anya's home is always доступный? Ah... The doors are open to you and your cousin. Mama and I -
[There's a moment as she tries to consider her words. They like to have visitors? That's true, but not exactly what she's getting at.]
Before, the house was always full. Of noise and people. It was nice. Now, Mama works and the house is not as warm. But if you and your cousin want to come for dinner, I would like that.
no subject
[There's a pause as he thinks about it. It feels weird, but...where's the harm, right? And maybe Ari would like a chance to meet new people]
Uh...maybe, sure. I gotta check with my cousin first. She's pretty busy.
