Naming pets after food has always seemed a little strange to me.

When I wasn't planning on taking the cat in, someone told me to name them after something I liked.

I thought 'curry' didn't sound well.

That's better than naming your cat after a shiitake mushroom.
Though in this particular case, it was actually a dog.

Shiitake...it's an interesting name. Although I once suggested someone should name a dog 'Potato'.

It was cute. Like mashed potatoes. That's what I thought, at least. The owner liked it, too.
