did you guys know that chocobos have been hatching this month??
they're only the most adorable thing i've ever witnessed
(it happens every year prompto grow up LISTEN I KNOW THAT)

now here's a story
it's a bit of a tear jerker so you've been ~*warned*~
one of the mama chocobo at the petting zoo was pretty sick and
after she laid a single egg she had to be put down
we tried putting the egg in the other nests but it wouldn't fly with the other chocobo
instead we made our own nest and put lights to it to keep it warm

i don't know if it was the artificial warming up or what
but when this egg hatched it's the tiniest chicobo i've seen in my life

and i love it so much

he's not getting on too well with the rest of the chicks and
okay i'm gonna sound like a paranoid parent but
is he getting bullied???
every time i go by the pen he just jumps to my shoulder and hides
in my clothes or just hangs out on my head (go ahead make your jokes)
when my shift is over he gives me the saddest chirp kweh wark ever

so TL;DR what does a chocobo need to be happy and what does it need
when it's just a wee chick i'm not saying i'm keeping him but maybe i am

When the egg hatched, I was right there. D'you think it's gonna be super dependent now?

I don't know a lot about babies. They're kind of a pain.

[says the idiot sounding wistfully disappointed about no longer having a baby to hold.]

I think that's a thing. But if I watch him while you work, it should get better. I felt better about Grandma watching me while my parents were shopping and stuff, after a while.

I hope so.

[he smiles some, petting the chocobo] I go to work in a couple hours, so I'll drop him off with you, yeah?

[lalliho]

Mhm.

[He shifts, laying against the wall with a dull clunk instead.]

...Th...ank you. [UH] I don't really know what for. Lots of stuff, I guess, it just felt right.

[mercurio]

What? Dude, no way. I should be thanking you for letting me keep these many pets!

Service animal [let him try to cling to professionalism] and pet. Wait -- you just have the two, right?

[mercurio]

[the chocobo warks at prompto's voice, and he giggles]

Try not to pick up any more strays? I don't care how cute they are.

I think any future strays can fill up Noct's penthouse.
