I think that would be a better idea. Obviously what's been said has been said at this point and people are being fairly vocal about their suspicions, but still.

[And just like he said, Dante will show up to the garage about twenty minutes later! He figures Asami's made it there before him, so he'll just wander in, looking around for her. If she isn't there yet, he'll wait, but whenever he sees her, he'll give her the same greeting:]

[ Asami can be prone to the trope of being fashionably late...for casual events and parties. This is a little less about making an appearance. To think she would start her day off with her usual latte as if nothing had changed, and then wake up to this mess. However far-reaching it actually is...

She is there, tapping away on one of her "burn phones". She hears his footsteps and looks up just in time for a greeting. ]

You too, Dante. [ She offers a smile as she closes the screen on her phone. ] Didn't think it would be to discuss conspiracy theories, I've got to admit.

[He gives a voiceless chuckle, shaking his head as he approaches.]

You and me both. I've been dealing with this for a month now and I still have to stop and ask myself if I'm really going along with all this.

[He pulls out his phone, shutting it down before shoving it back into his pocket.]

But it's getting harder and harder to deny, something really weird's going on with all of this.

[ Harder and harder to deny...it must have felt so strange for him to talk to people he knows and for them not to understand at all what he's seeing. To think that she's been one of those people for countless others. It's unsettling to say the least. ]

I'm starting to get the feeling that "something weird" is an understatement.

[ Asami cross her arms, loosely holding onto her phone. She feels like she needs to keep it handy. ]

For a month...do you know anyone who's noticed anything before that?

[There's a car in the garage. Dante doesn't know who it belongs to, but he leans against it like it's his own, almost mirroring Asami as he folds his arms, thinking back to the start of all this mess.]

No, not really. Around the last week of January during all the prep for Founder's Day, the app started installing itself on people's phones, but aside from that nothing actually happened until the network went live in February.

[He frowns, trying to remember. Had anything weird happened before Founder's Day...?]

The only thing I can think of before that is when it installed itself, it sent a sort of jolt through the phone. Not electrical, but I almost dropped mine in a cup of coffee when it happened. Nobody's mentioned anything other than that happening beforehand.

[ Any other time she would take a moment to see what work has been done on this particular vehicle, maybe pick his brain a bit, but when you're having an existential crisis, pimping your ride just doesn't have the same urgency.

She listens quietly as he explains. The last week of January...? Yes, the only thing she can think of importance happening then was the Founder's Day festival. But what sort of significance would that have, if any at all?

A jolt? ]

Like a vibration, you mean?

Kind of. It was a vibration, but it was a lot stronger than when you get a text or a call. [Another frown as he tries to find the right words.] You know when you're falling asleep and your entire body jerks back awake? Imagine that sort of a thing happening to your phone and you've got the idea.

Then when I unlocked mine to see what was going on, Retrospec was downloading.

I see...

[ She can't say she noticed when the app began to first download, but... ]

I wonder...I did a diagnostic test to see when the app downloaded itself onto each of my devices and it was at the exact same time. But I figured it might be due to the fact they're all registered under my accounts. Do you remember what time yours did?

[Oh, that's actually a really good question.]

Unfortunately it was over a month ago and I didn't think about writing the time down. But...

[It was when he was checking out all the preparations for Founder's Day. He was getting coffee that afternoon...]

Probably around 4:00, is my best guess. Then when I got home around 6:30, it was just like you said. It had already installed itself on everything else. Even my tablet, and I'd left it charging in airplane mode with the wifi off.
