I received this from Retrospec this morning in the mail. I think there's been a mistake in addresses or something since I don't think I've ever owned this before. Is somebody looking for this necklace? It's lovely and all but there's something about this that makes me feel a little eerie.

I would love to see what they gave for the very first user than.

Did you get anything too? seems to be running trend from what I'm starting to gather.

The real question is what the millionth user would get, five star getaway to Puerto Vallarta?

No I've only had this a few days and haven't got anything yet, but you're right it seems like a lot of people are getting packages. But most seem more "personalised"? It's a nice necklace and all but.

[ wouldn't that be amazing! she hopes it's a paid trip to and back from there.

but seriously: she does immediately agree that some of the things she's seen or heard have been interestingly personalised for the person who gets them. there must be meaning to getting a necklace or a fork. ]

But what? Is something about this that strikes your interest? [ 'suspicion' is too strong a word so that's the best she can think of. ]

Well it seems almost odd that it's more or less generic when the intent of others has been fairly plain to see. It could have come from anywhere or belonged to anyone at any time, or be brand new. It doesn't necessarily belong to any one era either. So I guess it makes me think family heirloom, or something like that?

An heirloom?

I never thought of that. Would explain some things the others got and why it feels like there's something more to them. I read in a book that a person can develop an emotion bond with a place due to the great significance they feel for it, and it can be felt by others later on in life. Place attachment, I believe it was called.

Maybe that can be applied to this and others?
