a powder or a liquid. If you don't have any, you can go buy some at the
store. And load size is just what it sounds like - are you washing a lot of
clothes? Only some clothes? Something in between? Oh, but, um, you might
want to check that your clothes can be washed? I bet you have some pieces
that need to go to a dry cleaners!
Hmm, you could probably find some on a corner market too, if you
don't want to go all the way to a grocery store. They'll usually sell stuff
like that - sometimes. Just read the instructions for how much to put in or
else you'll end up like one of those cartoons where all the soap suds come
out of the machine! And okay, that's good. It's an easy thing to forget or
mistake.

We have a lot of clothing that's dry clean only, yes. I know enough not to put them in a wash at least.
