3rd Card {Text}

If you could see what was going to happen, if you had the choice, it coming to you in your dreams, would you want to? I know that might seem sort of. Similar to us remembering this other life we had, but. What I mean is a little different. I mean literally seeing what is to come.

Even these dreams, these other memories of this other life, they're hard enough to deal with. I guess sometimes it might be helpful to see what was going to happen, but. It still seems difficult? Lonely? What would you choose? I don't know what I'd want. What I end up choosing, but. I guess I'll find out.

I'm just glad things seem to be back to normal? More or less. As normal as things get around here anyway. With everyone disappearing before, I mean. And I hope everyone is alright now.

[Or. As alright as things could be. All things considered, especially with the whole ordeal with Mio and Leon at least. That she knows of. She could also mention Xiaolang's birthday coming up, but that was probably better done in talking to him in private first. On what he wanted to do for it.]

[YUP, REASON TO BE CONCERNED NOW CONFIRMED]

More powerful than Clow? But... he left behind a huge legacy, didn't he? He had those cards, and those creatures, and I remember the other me speaking about the diaries and tomes he left behind with my family...

... is it something you want, though? Seeing the future, I mean. What your other self chose not be the same as what you would want to choose.

I don't really remember you being as powerful as that either. At least... not in the earlier memories. It's possible you got stronger over time, but that's not exactly a bad thing, isn't it? Especially if you have the ability to control something he couldn't do.

[Xiaolang, you're going to regret the FUCK out of saying that once you remember all this Clear Card stuff--

But god, he's so sick of people close to him being on the verge of regaining things they Don't Want, Retrospec why do you even do this]

If it helps, you know you have the other people on the app who'd believe you if that did come to pass. You know strange abilities and powers aren't new to anyone here. And if you see something upsetting, I'm sure there's people here who'd be able to talk if you need it.

... that extends to me, too. If you wind up seeing these things, I'll be the first to listen, if you want me to. It might not fix things, but it might have been more than Clow had.

... Of course. I'll always be by your side, no matter what.

[Be it as a friend, a person who shares the same memories, or her boyfriend, but he figures she knows that much.]

We'll worry about it more when this ability does surface. We shouldn't brush it off, but there's not much we can do to prevent it, either. Retrospec does what Retrospec wants, whether we like it or not. [As the whole ordeal with Mio's disease has taught him, unfortunately.]

The best course of action is probably keeping an eye on your dreams for the time being, and recording whatever happens in them. If you wind up seeing the future, it might not be obvious until the event's already happened. I mean... they've seemed mostly normal so far, right? Nothing out of the ordinary?

Yeah, sort of like that. I heard it's easier to remember them when you first wake up, but I've never tried it myself. It'll probably be tough at first, getting started with it, but you'll get into the habit if you do it often enough.

Do you have a special notebook you can use for it?
cardcaptured: <user name=fleeting> | DNS (And you've been kind of smart)

[personal profile] cardcaptured 2018-07-20 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
... that would make sense. It'd still be fresh in your mind if you woke up when it was still going. But there's no way to guarantee you'll do it every time you have one, unless someone deliberately wakes you up. If you can't find a notebook, though, I can give you one of the extra ones I have. I know I have a few I'm not using, anyway.

[But the talk of dreams does get him to think, though, about the strange one he had lingering in his head for the past few days. It was easy to brush off as a regular dream, but the events and their conversation felt... vivid. And almost real.]

It was just dreams of the future they mentioned in your memory, right? Nothing about the past, or going into the dreams of others?

[He bites his lip on the other side of the screen, wondering if he should mention it in the first place. That dream of his felt real, alarmingly so, but if it turns out he was the only one having them...]

I... had a dream about you, the other night. You were younger, and you fell into a lake, and I wound up rescuing you. It sort of... related to that thing you told me about, back in October, about the fog.

Maybe it was just a normal dream, but it felt too... cohesive to be just that.

[So they really did share a dream, after all... he's not entirely sure what to make of that, honestly.]

... Unless we're having the exact same dream at the same time... then it probably did.

Maybe it's an ability neither of us know about yet.

[Or maybe it's just Retrospec doing weird shit, but ONE CAN NEVER BE TOO SURE]

Other dreams...?

[Actually, now that he's really thinking about it...]

Come to think of it, I've had a few with other people too. Do you think this is a Retrospec thing, then?
cardcaptured: <user name=fleeting> | DNS (Cause who would know that you)

[personal profile] cardcaptured 2018-07-24 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
I guess it depends if there were other app users in your dreams...

If that's the case, though, I don't like it. Our dreams are personal, and people shouldn't be intruding on them.

[personal profile] cardcaptured 2018-07-27 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think so. There's no way to deliberately keep others from seeing what you're dreaming, as far as I know. People just wind up wandering into them, or not realizing they're in it themselves.

[Not to mention there are SO MANY things he'd rather people not see when it comes to his memories, from then and now.]

Do you happen to remember who else you saw in your dreams, by any chance?

[personal profile] cardcaptured 2018-08-03 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
May...?

She didn't do anything weird, did she?

[They're on better terms in this AU, of course, but she does have a flair for theatrics.]
