I'm not talking 'oh I met Lincoln once and he was a little more casual than history books make him out to be' or whatever. I'm talking about 'Francis Drake was a woman with gigantic breasts' kind of weird.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if everyone ended up being purple in some reality. This place makes less and less sense by the day.

Why the hell not? Everything is purple, or everyone is plants, or we all live on the moon.
