I am content with letting it remain something that will need to be dealt with later until I am finished with my own business. Provided Retrospec does not force my hand.
If they do not wish for me to put these skills to use, I will have no problems. I will live with this knowledge as I have lived with the knowledge of countless other bloody tragedies. I can continue to ignore Retrospec as I have for so long.
i didn't say not put those skills to use i just said they might not want you to kill anyone is killing where you draw the line between what is and isn't okay for retrospec to make you do
[Annalise isn't certain she appreciates being made to confront her fears (and the lies she's telling herself about them) like this.]
Anything that significantly interrupts me from what I have spent the greater part of my life in this city to try to accomplish. Anything that I cannot parlay into independent research. I have my goals. I will not be delaying them any further.
[ wow, give her the award for most obvious question dodging of the year! but that's okay, James isn't going to press on it. It's not like this is an interrogation, anyway. Just an exploration of where her boundaries on Retrospec are. ]
so basically anything your line is doing literally anything for them
[she... takes him moving on as a mercy, truly; on her end, she sighs. she will need time to dissect this later.]
Not precisely. I had an enlightening discussion with John Egbert yesterday about using my education, my years of studying military history to serve as a tactician for him, should war come. This is a choice I make of my own volition, with my own power and with nothing granted to me by Retrospec.
I do not realistically think it will come to war. I think Clarence Vanderweele is going to attack at some point in some form that none of us are able to predict, and my skills will need to be utilized then.
I simply must assume he will come prepared for a war.
He is the most likely candidate. He has the motive and the ability, and I doubt very much that someone without preexisting knowledge of how Retrospec works would be able to hack it as it is being hacked currently.

Killing would be a hard line, but far from the only.

the possibility that retrospec is giving you these memories to make you be their "murder robot"
so what are the other lines then
