I've been thinking about weapons practice for a while now, especially after the epsilon group got added. (For you guys in epsilon group, if you're still feeling lost about things, read this. Or just ask someone in alpha or beta. We've been there.)
Anyway. For those who weren't on the app yet, weapons practice was started by Dante (who is no longer on the app himself) as a way for people to learn how to fight. With weapons, obviously. A lot of people were getting weapons sent to them by Retrospec and had no idea how to use them. And when I say weapons, I mean non-firearms. Swords. Spears. Magic staffs. Battle axes.
If you want to learn hand-to-hand in this city, there are several places you can do that. If you want to learn how to use a firearm, there are places for that too. But a sword? A spear? Daggers? Ax? That's a little trickier.
So Dante started the weapons practice group, in order for us to pool our resources. People remembering how to fight with a weapon could help teach other people. People being sent weapons could learn how to use them. Or if you just want to learn how to use a weapon, you can come too!
I'd like to start this again. Especially with Retrospec's recent announcement about manual debugging. Same time and place as it used to be. Utsuki Dojo in Tisse, Sunday nights from 6pm to midnight. First meeting will be this Sunday.
You don't have to stay the whole time or even come right at the beginning, though we'll make general introductions at 6. Practice weapons will be provided, though you are welcome to bring your own.
As this is to help people learn physical techniques and increase skill level, magic techniques are not allowed. Magic weapons are only allowed if you can use them sans magic. The dojo is not equipped for that kind of stuff. Please do not burn my master's dojo down. Additionally, no firearms, lasers, fighting robots. Again, the dojo is not equipped for that kind of stuff. Please do not destroy my master's dojo.
Also, I'm looking for healers. I would like to have multiple healers involved, if only so we don't have one healer having to cover the whole six hours. If you are interested shoot me a message.
[OOC: IDK if we'll even manage to hold one this month :'D b/c Tatsuo is part of the initial infection group. Depending on how quickly that group manifests symptoms, we might be able to IC-ly have the first meeting on the 7th. Otherwise, the first meeting might have to wait until next month.]

But yeah, no fighting for the healers! Not unless they want to AND we have another healer there. I need the healers ready if there's an accident.
[and there will be accidents :|]

[No chance of him ever wanting a spar.]
It's no problem though. It might be a good chance to practice healing anyway.

[who are they kidding]
Sword was definitely a popular one last time, so hopefully we'll have some experienced people to help teach.

But if swords are popular, guess that'll help a lot! By the way, quick question: would it be okay to also watch the training for other weapons groups even if I don't actually do practice for those?

Everyone is a beginner at some point. There is no age limit on learning. Have you gotten memories of using a weapon?

yolo ig
[ Bad jokes made blindly about the app aside. ]
It's a good idea. I might try to show up and see if any of what is being offered fits.
[ He's more of an unarmed combat kind of person, but he has no idea what the app will mean, so might as well start to prepare himself? ]
Re: yolo ig
There are actual vampires on the app, just so you know.
[technically only one at the moment only one that he's aware of... but since there used to be at least two, he feels he can fudge the numbers]
But please do come check it out. You never know what might end up interesting you.
[good plan Touya, good plan]

Of course there are.
Thank you, either way.

Do we have any doctors, medical professionals, or EMTs on the app now? I believe we still have an EMT? But especially the new group, is there anyone else? Accidents have happened there before.

I have a question. what about those of us who haven't received a weapon yet or might not? someone suggested I use something like a bat but that's hard to carry around day to day. are those of us who don't have anything to fight with still welcome?
Re: epsilon#1001181279
You are very welcome.
If you're looking for something to have on hand, there are a few options, and we can explore that more at practice. But you are certainly welcome to watch and participate even if you haven't gotten a weapon from Retrospec.

We have plenty of practice weapons to go around, so you are welcome to attend. There seems to be quite a bit of interest in sword, which is great.
Look forward to having you!

Yes, there's a lot of interest in learning how to use a sword, so I'm definitely trying to find people who are comfortable teaching that. Either way, you'll have lots of people to practice with from the response I've had so far. While I don't discount running as a perfectly sensible response to danger, if you want to learn how to fight, I'd like to support you.
