This month certainly has been interesting so far, hasn't it. Joanne - I know you're not going to reply, dear heart, but you might want to place a moratorium on calling things "exciting" for the next short while, seeing as apparently it just curses the entire situation.

Though perhaps I'm biased in some way; after all, my body doesn't exactly play nicely with fire anymore.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not one for bolstering one's spirit; either you'll find your own fortitude in times like this or you won't, and bluntly put the direction you choose to take is of very little consequence to me. However, that isn't to say that it doesn't hold my interest; whether you've run screaming into the flames or avoided them, my question is one of progress. Not physical, as I have no doubt that we'll receive updates on whether what we're doing is truly enough or not – but rather internal.

Consider it a question of morale, I suppose. How we're holding up, how things are looking for the days to come. Whether we all hate ourselves a little less, if that's the sort of thing you have to report.

If nothing else, it seems an acceptable concern to have at the moment.

[...That is literally the most stilted "how is everyone doing, hope you're all having a happy crisis and not literally dying in a fire" that has ever been written, but you know what, it's going to have to work for now.]

I suppose I'm doing fine, my magic took a dramatic turn and became more powerful than I expected. Transforming got a little getting used to...like how the hell to get out of it.

Other then that, I suppose I am getting along just fine, and you?

I find that I can't complain, at any rate.

Transforming into what, precisely?

I am not sure, I had no memories of that transformation.

Given the words I have to say though, I would assume I transformed into a Djinn, or some kind of manifestation closer to a Djinn anyway.

I suddenly had a ripped body and my clothes changed on me...for one thing, my shirt disappeared on me.

Strangely enough for a "spirit of decorum and austerity," I didn't get more polite. My fire though...holy shit it got more potent

I'm not sure if that's particularly useful or not nowadays, what with the state of the city.

Well not DIRECTLY...even if I did melt some street and stop signs.

I can absorb fire too, it fuels my magic. I can only absorb up to a point...kinda like eating food, I can only have so much before I just can't absorb any more.

So I need to blow off some energy and come back for more.

It's been murder on my sleep but oh well, it's only till this firewall is dealt with.

I knew a few people in my past life with powers involving fire, but none quite like that.

Meh, it needs to be done, I doubt I will have many situations where the disaster in question almost perfectly fits my power set. So, just doing what needs doing.

Their blood seemed to be made of napalm; they could make it burn through their skin until they bled and then throw it at people or things that they wanted to burn. Somewhat repulsive, but it got the point across.

No fire powers in my own skillset, however. Fortunately. It doesn't sound terribly pleasant.

The only thing I have to compare to that is my arms can turn black like coal and my veins look red like lava, that is for me to hold a two-handed sword though.

I could show you sometime, or follow the sound of a bomb going off/pillar of fire shooting sky high and you will find me and you can see my magic at work.

Perhaps I'll see it for myself sometime, then.

Nothing quite so tragic. I injected myself with something deliberately and was killed by one of my own creations. The death just didn't happen to stick.

I don't know which alarms me more,

that you got killed by one of your own creations which makes me wanna ask the question "how to science and not get yourself killed"

Well, as for the first, I knew it was going to happen in advance. I provoked it - for a given degree of provoking, it was rather volatile, so I suppose saying that I woke it up is a bit more accurate - and I knew it would attack me as a result. I allowed it to happen, given that I was under the assurances of one of my colleagues that I had a ninety percent chance of everything working out well enough.

In the event of the worst-case scenario, I would be dead and so it wouldn't be my problem anymore.

Geez, I'm reckless but even I realize one of these days it's going to do me in.

I just don't think that day is today.

Surely, his massive ego would protect him.

I'm told that I'm likewise reckless, but it's less that I don't believe that anything will kill me and more that I'm not particularly afraid of the notion that something might.

He did, eventually. One of the people that he knew even compared him to a comic book villain shortly before he died. As for that first time...well, it had to do with that injection he took beforehand. Again, there was something like a ninety percent chance of everything working out once he had.

The lava didn't kill him. He had to be decapitated. About the only saving grace was that it wasn't terribly painful on either count.

Oh...I guess he couldn't inject himself to be decapitation proof...

Not that I am particularly eager to know what those feel like, good to know it's painless.
