Does anyone know why people lose their memories when they lose their network access?

Uh. Kara's forgotten everything. I was out pouring snow on the fires, and then... yeah. Our dog's gone, too, but I guess it's because she got him from Retrospec. Most of my friends forgot, too. It feels pretty lonely around now, but... anyway, just letting you guys know.

Then why can't they believe us when we tell them the truth?

Why they literally can't see Retrospec anymore is the hard part, yeah. If you believe the layer diagram, it's because they fell back to the first layer, before Awakening.

I'm at the point that I have to believe it's protecting them. Remembering what they had, but not being able to touch it again has got to hurt, too.

But so is turning every relationship anyone on here has into a bunch of lies! It distances people. It's messing us all up, Retrospec users and civilians.

I'm sorry. God, it sounds like I'm defending them. It's worse, it's terrible. I'm in the damn hospital now and my best friend doesn't know why I got hurt.

The best I can do is remember the other reasons I'm friends with him, and try to keep the lies as little as possible. He's still going to be here when all this is over and we get our lives back.

You think things will go back to how they were before, or that we'll be able to save the worlds and become the other us and go back to their lives?

It bothers me that I don't know for sure. I believe that when we restore their lives and their worlds, they will be able to separate from us and go back. We get our lives back, they get theirs.

But I'm scared that we'll become one and the same, and then what happens to us? The real us?

So you're on Mr. Tsushima's side, huh... I guess that makes sense. A lot of people would be happy with the lives they had before. Even I've been happy here.

I wouldn't say side, but I'll encourage that point of view. Especially for him, since the man he's remembering doesn't seem to be very nice.

But, you'd rather get that other life you're seeing?

That obvious, huh... Yeah, you should tell him what you think. I think he'll be a lot happier with that theory.

It's not a bad thing, in either direction! Some people are getting incredible inspiration from the people they're seeing. Really seeing what they're capable of. I know what I personally hope for, but I won't let my hopes take away from other people's.

It's just that Shuji, well. Found out his guy is a big jerk.

Sorry. I know I shouldn't think that way when everyone else wants to go back to their normal lives. And Mr. Tsushima really hates the other him, so I get it. It's nice of you to say you don't want to take other people's hope away, but if that's the way it has to be, then that's just how it is.

I'm just not feeling great right now. Sorry.

You have nothing to apologize for. Nothing. You've just lost your friend. She's still a part of your life, but I know, it feels like a loss.

Yeah, my sister. And our dog's gone, too, with everything else she got from Retrospec. It feels... I don't know. Thanks. I just don't want to make things worse.

I hope that some of the things, animals or friends that we got from Retrospec, if we forget, they've got to go back to Retrospec. Maurice or somebody's taking care of them now. Did you ever meet Augustine? I hope the same thing happened to his friends.

I have to wonder... yeah. I guess all we can do is guess.

We'll get some proof, one way or another, eventually. In the meantime, don't give up that hope. Whenever Retrospec has gotten somebody back, they've remembered everything again. So, there's got to be a way.
