Koutarou Takao

12/8 near Birch Hills

“Chieko died and returned
to the home she so longed for.
In the dead of an October night
I clean and purify the empty studio,
sweep the dust from a small corner
and softly lay Chieko down.
I stand lost
before this single body.
Someone turns a screen around.
Someone lights candles and incense.
Someone makes up Chieko.
Others take care of these things.
Night brightens, day darkens,
everywhere grows crowded.
The house is buried in flowers,
as if this were someone else's funeral.
Then somehow Chieko is no longer there.
I stand alone in the dark studio
while some say an exquisite moon is just outside.”

I received the drafts, from first to final, of this poem, from Retrospec. It’s called Bleak Homecoming and is dated June, 1941. As it was written in my handwriting, and I know who Chieko was - the other me’s wife - I’m assuming that the other me was the one who wrote this poem. I translated it to try to deal with my feelings regarding it, and I might be doing the same by posting it here... I don't entirely know, to be honest.

Um hi everyone!

So one of the abilities I've gotten from Retrospec is I can enchant some things I cook with magic. They still don't taste like anything, but can give extra benefits like healing or strength boosts. Oh, and it all glows or sparkles too.

I need to save up some money for music equipment, and I was thinking some people might want something to make eating a little more fun again? So I've decided to put my cooking on sale, at least for a little bit. I don't have a restaurant or a shop to sell from, so all of it will have to ordered ahead of time and delivered to you. And I can only really sell stuff that would travels well, sorry about that. But they could make a great Christmas gift, or to have something with you while you train?

Anyway, please let me know if you want any? The menu's below. Thanks.

After some recent changes I've had to go through yesterday, I think I could use a small distraction. So I've decided to come to all of you in order to present a curiosity of mine.

What are some of your favorite Christmas and holiday traditions? After all, I would like to include those of you who perhaps don't celebrate Christmas.

There are so many of these traditions to speak of that I'm sure that everyone has a preference towards something in particular. I know I have a fondness for all of the lights that I've been watching appear throughout the season.

My thanks in advance for your assistance in this distraction.
