Hey history nerds. Or coin collectors

Anyone know where this coin is from? Got it in the mail, and I don't recognize it. Certainly nothing from the States or the UK. I tried reverse image search and nothing came up.

And this is on the heels of having one of those hallucinations everyone else has been having. It was... bizarre, to say the least. At least this thing seems innocuous enough.

It's got a horse on it, which I didn't think anybody even knew about any more, and it says "Jim, put a meaningful quote here" on the edge.

I got it right after all the fruit got faces. I'm betting Retrospec must've given it to me.

Exactly. Knowing Retrospec, that coin'll probably turn any other money it touches into more dumb commemorative coins, so I'm keeping mine hidden away now.

What hallucination did you get right before getting this thing?

Damn.

I must have missed out on the "all hallucinations have to be crazy fantasy novel stuff" memo, because mine are nothing like that.

A major broke me out of a jail on base to tell me I had a "special assignment." No idea what the assignment's supposed to be, though, or what I was doing in jail in the first place.

[ James could share the other 'hallucinomemory' too, but, even knowing that it's more 'hallucination' than 'memory', he doesn't feel comfortable saying "also I killed a man" out loud. It's an upsetting thing to think about, much less admit to another person, especially when it feels as real as it does. ]

Yeah, maybe, if 15-year-olds got selected for special ops.

Yeah maybe in like WW1 or WW2, before they had a way of actually checking ages.

They knew I was 15 though. They even asked me to make sure.

Maybe. They said they were gonna assign me to something so long as I kept out of trouble before my 16th birthday.

I don't know if they wanted someone underage, or they wanted me
and I just happened to be underage.

Yeah, great. Here's hoping for a new set of crazy fake memories, just what I always wanted.

Is this how we're going to ruin people's childhoods from now on?

"Merry Christmas Billy, PS Santa is a creepy app that stalks you and implants fake memories into your brain."

Great. A digital dystopian Santa for a digital dystopian age. It's like we're evolving to all-new fantasies of dysfunction.

See normally I'd make some sarcastic comment about what's coming next in digital dystopian hell, but I don't want to actually give Retrospec any ideas.
