Hey history nerds. Or coin collectors

Anyone know where this coin is from? Got it in the mail, and I don't recognize it. Certainly nothing from the States or the UK. I tried reverse image search and nothing came up.

And this is on the heels of having one of those hallucinations everyone else has been having. It was... bizarre, to say the least. At least this thing seems innocuous enough.

Is the coin related to what you saw in your visions?

Maybe it played a significant role in it or is linked to it somehow. I can't tell if it's made of metal or not but it certainly isn't made by industrial minting. I think at least.
caelestialis: (071. πŸŒ• and it's crazy here without you.)

Oh.

That's the first time I ever heard of a vision like that. I'm almost certain we don't have dragons or eight feet tall men running around the city. Almost. With how this month is shaping up to be I'll believe anything.

What's the coin made out of? It looks like wood or ceramics in the picture but maybe it's just my sleepiness talking.
caelestialis: (086. πŸŒ• they're coming up to me.)

Sounds like we can at least narrow the time it was made due to the material its made of and the level of details it shows. Not by much though. From what I'm reading, the way this coin could have been made around the 16th century?

It looks like it could have been handmade, like the way old coins were done by hammer, but there is cause to believe a screw press could have had a hand in its creation.

I got a coin right after having one of those hallucinations too, but it didn't look anything like that. I have no idea what that is.

It's got a horse on it, which I didn't think anybody even knew about any more, and it says "Jim, put a meaningful quote here" on the edge.

I got it right after all the fruit got faces. I'm betting Retrospec must've given it to me.

Doesn't it look like one of those collectible items you see in magazine ads sometimes?

you know, the ones that are two easy payments of $29.99 and if you buy two they throw in a fairy statue for free?

youre right, it's kind of lopsided. could be something an art major made that found its way to you by accident?

I have never seen anything like this in France, nor do I remember it in any of the history books I've seen. You say that you got it in the mail? I assume it is from the Retrospec people in that case.

It looks like a simple coin or medallion of some sort. And ancient coins like that could be more hand made than they were stamped in a press. Maybe it's from a long-lost civilization, or a personal keepsake?

I am fairly sure it will be clearer if and when it is associated with some vision they shove on you.

it looks like some sort of symbol on the right side of the face? that's something to look into
what does the back look like?

[personal profile] appraiser 2017-04-04 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
maybe it's a sigil? do you believe in magic? if it's a lion or a dog, it might be good to keep on you-- for strength or courage

if it's history help you need then I'd talk to Sorey Doushi and/or Mikleo LeFay!

more likely and instead of or

Sorey is a student teacher at RU in archaeology. Mikleo is only a student but they do a lot of their studies together so their combined knowledge should hopefully give you SOME kind of lead

I mean of course you could go to the actual professors, but they're both Retrospec users so they won't look at you funny if you tell them you got it in the mail

I personally think they're smarter than the professors anyways (。-Ο‰-)οΎ‰
