As long as the changes were being made to our memories, it was plausible to argue that this was some sort of hypnosis, something done by Retrospec to our brains. However:

1) The experiment to disconnect from electronics that may be affected by Retrospec returned no results. We still felt the effects while disconnected.

2) This "shrinking" and the holes in reality cannot be explained by hypnosis. They are very real.

At what point do we begin to question the fabric of reality itself?

I am starting to wonder if part of the problem is that we are simply assuming too many things because of what we are familiar with. This app already defies imagination, does it not?

If I may ask, is there some sort of information that would help you start coming up with a new theory?

Anything, then, that would point to Retrospec being a 'normal company' on some level might qualify? Something where we could define them, put limits on them, understand them.

Instead of this nigh unstoppable force?

I think that I understand what you mean, about simulation. As if we were somehow hooked into virtual reality and could not tell the difference. If they could program it then, it would be the same difference.

The QR Codes that the Officer found might support that thought. But, that could be any of a number of things too, and the idea that my life is a simulation is almost worse than 'they are gods.'

Users that are having trouble telling between our reality and the fantasy programmed in, trying desperately to log off? Let us hope this isn't the case. That sounds awful.

Or, at the very least, these are the most common fictional options, since those usually come from minds that consider such possibilities at the edge of science.

You've been thinking about this a lot, haven't you Naoto?

[She really should be worried about him, honestly. he thought about stuff like this too much at times.]

Your mind is an unusual one, Naoto, and I mean that as a compliment. You think from a variety of angles that most people would never consider. That, and I doubt that I am the only one who does not truly wish to believe the worst possibilities right now.

It is meant as a complement, I assure you. We will find that truth, though, one way or another. I am now more willing than ever to fight to have it.

But I think we are going around in circles now. We will speak later, yes?
