Right, so. I've seen much and more about Retrospec sending out *weapons* through the post, but I think this might be a first. Whatever it is.
If anyone else out there has some idea of exactly what this is -- aside from the obvious "it's a helmet," thank you, already got that one figured out -- then I'd be glad to hear it, because I haven't got a clue.

Chloe Bouchard It reminds me of a few of the more ornate Italian or Japanese ones, meant to intimidate people.
Chloe Bouchard But there almost seem to be clockwork parts in it that do not fit medieval armor.
Chloe Bouchard Along the cheek, and I do not know why that would be there.
Chloe Bouchard Is it part of a set perhaps?

If you ask me I'd say it looks more like a movie prop than anything grounded in actual history. But to pick it up... It feels like it's made of real metal, not rubber or anything else.

[ wait. rephrase. ]
This and no other bits of armor, I mean. Street clothes rather than Renaissance Faire.

[ no, he is not about to entertain the request of a complete stranger to put this weird hunk of metal on their head. ed if somebody he actually knew had asked him instead, his answer would still probably be no. ]

I've seen one similar in my hallucinomemories. On a guy who called himself a Judge.

[ wh...at. well, he's already shared the memory of the lizard man ba'gamnan with penelope, so it stands to reason that they might share other memories as well...but that doesn't leave him any less mystified. ]
Something like this is a bit of a far cry from black robes and a gavel, wouldn't you think?
Driving home from the con back in 4 hours or so..
have a safe trip!!!

[To be fair, Ardyn came here with Actual Questions and not just to be an ass, but. He has to at least begin with a wry comment, because that's just who he is.]

A bit, I suppose.
Perhaps it looks less so with a set of full armor.

[ really, the craftsmanship looks far too ornate for this to be the helm of any ordinary rank-and-file soldier... which brings back to mind what penelope just told him about the "judge" she saw. it still doesn't sit well with him. ]
