everyone else - existential question: if we go 110% on his game just to spite him, who is the real winner? him or us?

Yes, the tweaking is mostly on my side. I wrote Jim as far too courteous, not to mention too eloquent. Given the chance, I'll have to write him more in-character, or else I'm afraid I'd make for a poor writing partner.
