Hello Users,

For those of you who are new: Welcome to Retrospec™, the last social media network you will ever need. You are one of the few selected to test this exciting new platform based on our cutting-edge algorithms. Membership is not currently open to the public. However, we hope you will come to see how useful Retrospec™ is, given time. We have for your use a variety of features such as text, voice, video, and image posts. We encourage you to explore our many options.

For all, new and old: Please be advised that should you go above and beyond the call of duty for Mr. Halloway's little game in the coming days, there may be a reward granted or information given. 100% completion would be the goal for that, should you have an interest. If you have no interest in the matter, please feel free to carry on as usual.

R&D will not be handling further communiques for this month, or possibly the next few months. This should not, of course, have any impact on your usage of Retrospec™.

The first milestone for the second of the colors lost has been met, and accordingly we have diverted resources to fix what could be fixed. R&D has alerted me that a bigger loss may occur in the near future, and I would advise you to be careful, though I am afraid neither they nor I can be much more detailed than that.

Finally, I would like to extend congratulations to those of you who have now reached your sixth month. We hope you will continue to accept our assistance in these trying times.

As of this post green fruits and flowers of this color regain their pigment. (Note: this is not all plants. This is just for flowers and fruits!)

Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently. Any new characters will find that the first photo they upload is locked as their profile picture for the rest of the month. Characters who have been in game since February will find their profiles now have a 6 months badge. It does absolutely nothing of note.

I can't act like this is normal.

How can something be a hallucination and a memory?

Because they feel like a memory rather than a dream, but they're definitely not yours.

[Peter doesn't go out of his way to dive deep into the entertainment district of downtown, so this would be his first time at such an area and Peter looks a little out of place.

Still, he doesn't let it get to him and Peter waits diligently at a table, checking the normal texts on his phone for Tatsuo (pointedly not touching the Retrospec app icon).]

[Tatsuo likes using Good Bean as a meet-up location. It's the kind of place pretty much anyone can have an excuse for dropping by, and at the same time it's public enough that most people just mind their own business.

He arrives not too long after Peter, and after ordering a coffee,
scans the cafe for the officer. He's fairly easy to spot.]

Ah, Officer Hoboken. There you are.

[Peter looks up from his phone, and sees Tatsuo approaching his table from the counter. Peter had only bought a small cup of coffee to be polite, but it looks untouched.]

Mr. Kihara.

Are you able to...talk, without any lead in?

Cut to the chase? Yeah... there's not real way to warm up to this.

[Tatsuo sits across from Peter and takes a sip from his coffee.]

Now that you're aware of the app, you're going to start getting memories. Memories of another you in another life. There are various theories floating about as to the source of the memories, but it's still pretty up in the air. Reincarnation, alternate universes, aliens... some people suggest we're actually inside a simulation...

[Tatsuo clearly doesn't think much of any of these theories, especially the last one.]

You could also receive items from Retrospec that you will feel a sense of ownership for.

[He reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a white flip phone.]

They sent me this last month.

[Peter stares intently at Tatsuo speaking, leaving the coffee still untouched for the entire time. Politeness is probably all it's going to be useful for, because Peter spends even more time considering what's happening to the world, and them, and it'll probably be utterly room temperature by the time they're done.]

[Peter assumes that Tatsuo doesn't want the item touched, if he just said he feels like it's his, but leans forward to look at it, a quiet sign of his attention. Peter is a tall man with striking eyes, so it's like the phone is under a searchlight.]

Is it just a cell phone?

[Peter doesn't point out that the style of the phone is old-fashioned - if a phone works then it's a phone.]

Yep, just a regular cell phone. From Japan, where I've never been.

[He flips the phone open then turns it around so Peter can see the hiragana on the keypad. It's actually quite sleek looking.]

When I first got it, it could make calls even thought it wasn't assigned to a service provider, but after a couple weeks that stopped. But even then, I could still use the Retrospec app, which it clearly shouldn't have.

[He hits a couple keys so Peter can see the bright blue Retrospec logo.]

I ended up adding it to my current cell plan. It never hurts to have a backup.

Anything to do with Retrospec seems to spell strange things happening to the laws of physics.

[Peter leans back into his seat, done with the phone. He's tired of seeing that logo already. He turns his neck, up at Tatsuo's face now.]

Hmm. If you did otherwise, I almost would have thought you were up to trying something untraceable.

Pretty much every scientific law is being bent by this app.

[Which annoys Tatsuo on a personal level, being a scientist himself. He snaps the phone closed and is sliding it back into his pocket when Peter makes the comment about 'untraceable' phones. It is a little too close to the truth, just not the way Peter had meant it. Tatsuo's mouth tightens slightly and he pauses a moment before removing his hand from inside his jacket.]

With as intrusive as Retrospec is in our lives, I wouldn't blame someone for wanting something untraceable. But as we've see with this phone, even having a feature phone instead of a smart phone does not protect you from the app downloading itself onto your device.

[Peter notices that drop in conversation, but he acts like he missed a cue. After all, he was getting pretty lost in thought.]

Hmmm. So despite all tricks, anyone who has been touched by this app trying to evade the law from now on has at least one eye always on them.

[He says in a tone that implies "the good for nothings" as the follow up.]

[Tatsuo takes a sip of his coffee.]

Not that any of it would be admissible in court, unlawful surveillance aside. Only people with the app can see the app, or the company's headquarters in Tisse. Mention Retrospec to anyone not on the app and they'll give you a confused look.

[Nope, Peter's coffee is still going ignored. This time in favor of closing his eyes and sighing lengthily.]

One can only imagine how much unusable information must be going on witnessed. To think that all that is just... incidental, to whatever Retrospec is really planning.

[Peter assumes that whatever goal that entails messing up colors as a concept must be something bigger.]

I'm fairly certain they're watching us. There was an incident a couple months ago where the app kept sending us crappy photos of ourselves from behind. But they don't actually seem to care what we do... even when people break into their building.

[Peter is going to find out about the break-ins at some point. Hell, Tatsuo is just about ready to start breaking in himself.]
