LOADING...OVERFLOW

Hello Users,

For those of you who are new: Welcome to Retrospec™, the last social media network you will ever need. You are one of the few selected to test this exciting new platform based on our cutting-edge algorithms. Membership is not currently open to the public. However, we hope you will come to see how useful Retrospec™ is, given time. We have for your use a variety of features such as text, voice, video, and image posts. We encourage you to explore our many options.

For all, new and old: Please be advised that should you go above and beyond the call of duty for Mr. Halloway's little game in the coming days, there may be a reward granted or information given. 100% completion would be the goal for that, should you have an interest. If you have no interest in the matter, please feel free to carry on as usual.

R&D will not be handling further communiques for this month, or possibly the next few months. This should not, of course, have any impact on your usage of Retrospec™.

The first milestone for the second of the colors lost has been met, and accordingly we have diverted resources to fix what could be fixed. R&D has alerted me that a bigger loss may occur in the near future, and I would advise you to be careful, though I am afraid neither they nor I can be much more detailed than that.

Finally, I would like to extend congratulations to those of you who have now reached your sixth month. We hope you will continue to accept our assistance in these trying times.

Thank you for your patience,

Janet Wiseman

As of this post green fruits and flowers of this color regain their pigment. (Note: this is not all plants. This is just for flowers and fruits!)

Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently. Any new characters will find that the first photo they upload is locked as their profile picture for the rest of the month. Characters who have been in game since February will find their profiles now have a 6 months badge. It does absolutely nothing of note.

This post is an overflow from the original post here. Feel free to either carry over threads from there or create entirely new ones.

[ wtf don’t call his bluff like that ]

I suppose that’ll depend on what the game is. If it sounds like it could be some fun, eh, maybe I’ll give it a shot. Otherwise, why bother?

[But that's what Ardyn does best!]

Why bother, indeed. [But he won't call him out on it anymore.] For answers, maybe, but that's only for the most curious -- or frustrated -- of us all.

Now, frustrated, I’d understand, seeing as they don't look all that inclined to give us much of anything to work with. If they were, they’d actually hold a conversation once in awhile, but trying to get answers out of them’s like talking to a brick wall. And we know they'd get any messages if they’re keeping such close tabs on us like Jim suggested before.

I don’t expect to get anything that’ll actually help with anything out of this game of his. If we're lucky, it’ll just be a good way to waste some time now that classes are over.

To spend your summer unravelling the mysteries laid before us... until the next semester begins. I can't blame anyone for it.

That being said, are you a university student?
insantafe: (ain't it a fine life)

[personal profile] insantafe 2017-07-17 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That’s not exactly how I was planning to spend it, but if we get something useful out of it, it might not be so bad.

Sure am, third year come fall. Why do you ask?

[personal profile] daemonized 2017-07-18 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I'm a professor there. Law, and all it entails.
insantafe: (I'll say anything I hafta)

[personal profile] insantafe 2017-07-19 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, see, I’m on the journalism track. They only give us the intro to law, you know? We only get the basics so we can get the job done.

But even I know this is violating some kind of laws. Aside from installing the app without asking, those photos from before? That’s invasion of privacy, right? But we still can’t do anything about it?

[personal profile] daemonized 2017-07-20 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
You're right. It is a violation of privacy, and this was even /before/ the incident with the photographs.

Here's the issue with doing something about it, though: a lawsuit requires some form of communication with the one you're trying to take to court. A company that isn't so transient that we cannot even reliably find its employees, that we cannot even hope that the building is the same on any given day. Retrospec has left little to no paper trail. They, for all intents and purposes, especially to most of the population, do not exist.

Which makes it very hard to even start turning the wheels of litigation; believe me, I've thought about it many times.

I hadn’t thought about that. Makes sense, though.

[ maybe he should take a law class or two after all… ]

But that just makes you wonder how they managed that. It’s not that easy to set up a business, let alone do something this widespread throughout the city, and still keep all their secrets. And from what I’ve heard, even though they leave us that email address to send them questions, they never answer.

And that’s before you try mentioning it to someone without the app. I’ve asked around at work and none of them have a clue. You’d think a bunch of investigative journalists would want to figure that out, but it looks like I’m the only one.

[Hey, he's always welcoming new students signing up for his classes, you know...]

That's the great mystery. None of it should be possible, not without even the smallest footprint of evidence. And yet they've managed it, as if they've broken the rules of the universe itself. Which, considering all they've done so far... perhaps that isn't too far from the truth.

Well, heaven knows we need more investigative types among us. Though you may be the only investigative journalist, that's no reason for you to be discouraged.
insantafe: (don't you know that we's a family)

[personal profile] insantafe 2017-07-26 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I’m starting to wonder if that isn’t such a far-fetched theory, after all, but it sounds like something a conspiracy theorist would come up with. And it still doesn’t explain the how.

Oh, believe me, I’m not giving up on this yet. We may not have much to go off of yet, but I want answers, and they can’t hide forever. One way or another, we’ll figure out what they’re up to. We’ll just have to be patient, and keep looking for clues.

Well, if you come across any of these clues, would you be so kind to share them with me? I'm only a text away.
