mr. kaiyou asked about extra manpower. we can't really grant access to anyone other than we have now unless someone switches out, and i can't unlimit the people the doctor put on probation, but you can all consult with one another so long as you're in network areas although in some locations you may only be able to reach your actual team consultant if you were assigned one. or one another if you were not. i'd advise you to maybe try not to get put on probation on here but i can't really stop you if you do. so i'll just say that this is still being monitored and none of you are actually required to work with us, so. please allow the people who are trying to the time to do so. i did warn mr. kaiyou it's a possibility. Maurice Fitzwilliam Intern Retr ![]() Please be advised monsters from the Bestiary can still be found around town. The convention center is still wrecked as well! Other damage can be found around town such as broken windows, some destroyed buildings, etc. Strangely, the monsters were courteous and left people's homes alone (for the most part.) Please note: this mingle is for Group One and Group Three members. Those of Group Two are still missing and time is still moving normally. This means they have been gone for one week as of today.
Group One and Group Three members may continue to create their own posts and logs about the state of affairs, though this post is a good time to link up and discuss what's happening city-side. Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently. |

[WHY NOT.]
Are you old enough to drink?
[She honestly doesn't care; it's more idle curiosity than anything authoritative.]
no subject
[well... now he is.... BUT IT'S BEEN ALMOST A YEAR - regardless he'll just pour two glasses of scotch then?? the most expensive one because fuck it, chuuya lets him get away with anything
and he'll slide one over to her]
You didn't get injured in Zukkini's bullshit, do you?
no subject
[What a good boy, getting the best shit for her. Ros glances down at her drink, then knocks it back with only a slight shudder.]
no subject
Nah, I'm the biggest problem on my team.
[what an easy admittance.... and he'll still pour her another glass]
Sounds like we have more trouble ahead of us, so don't drink too much, alright? You need to be up to stuff tomorrow.
no subject
Don't tell me what to do. I've had more than enough of that these past two weeks.
[She says it pleasantly enough, but that's not a joke. A few seconds, and then:]
And what makes you a problem, precisely?
no subject
Ohh, sorry, ma'am! My deepest apologies.
[at least his sense of humor hasn't gone anywhere]
Anyway, you've met me.
[and he thinks
that's self-explanatory?]

[He's difficult unless he finds a reason not to be. Doesn't trust anyone. Doesn't believe in anyone. Needs to be told that people are dying in order to cooperate. That kind of thing.
Still, he shakes his head. He doesn't see a reason to offer that up.]
Anyway, what were you up to in the crypts?
no subject
[God, but she's pissed about it. She's a professor, not a monster hunter.]
Zombies and dragons and golems, oh my.
no subject
She's a smart lady and that's why he doesn't hesitate to count off his fingers - ]
Absinthe was in the forest handling something regarding four beings - might have something to do with the founders of this city. Brandywine was beneath the university, restoring power to some shit downstairs. Cognac's in the subways, getting caught in pits and some other bullshit. Daiquiri was in the Retrospec basement where we also had to restore power.
And you know what happened to Ethanol.
Monsters were apparently in all locations but we had techy shit, no zombies or dragons.
Now - was it all just monsters in the crypts or did you have some kind of direction?

[But her irritable expression has melted into something far more serious.]
She spoke of . . . what did she call them . . . unreality twists. She claimed that's why the monsters are roaming about, and that, as you said, it was on us to fix things. She then claimed she was a temporal-spatial technician, which frankly, I was rather glad to hear.
no subject
[You know, the rifts that took everyone away? He tilts his head though, more curious about one part:]
What made you so glad about it, Professor?

[Still though, Baren's laughing faintly, his eyes light up as he legitimately tries to follow this.]
But okay, I'm listening. Tears in space-time - or just space? Do you think Retrospec has special access to these tears? We found Maury the intern's room and their workspace and it seems like they keep sticky notes of all our addresses so they know where to send our shit.

Probably risking all this.
From what I'm getting, some wires got crossed and something got broken, hence why a bunch of voids opened up all of a sudden and the city's at the risk of getting dropped in one. I normally don't buy into "man should not meddle" because that's a load of bullshit, but I'm still wondering what the big mistake was.
'cause it was a mistake - Retrospec employees are now missing, too and they're in a personal bind. We all got screwed on this one.
no subject
. . . you know, I wonder if this isn't a last resort. What happens at the end, if all of this scrambling around doesn't fix it. I wonder what they'll do.

[And that's probably the fastest, most certain answer that he's had for her. Still there's a pause as he considers that, then pulls up his phone again.]
... actually, hold on - I think some kid...
[it's one of his more recent messages but - he does pull up a link that was given to him and slides his phone over for Ros to read over it]
That's some new stuff I've gotten. What do you think?
1/?
--so given all that, what happens next isn't such a surprise.]
I knew it!
[holy fuck ros did you just shout that]
2/2
[And now she's reading the rest of that, her smile lingering even as she goes over it. She reads it twice, then:]
Hmm . . . well, I don't know if I believe all of this . . . this person is right, in that we ought to not take all of this as truth, but it's useful to know. But stealing reality . . . I wouldn't put it like that, but certainly reality can be warped in certain ways. That would explain more of how these creatures that some of us are encountering are doing the things they're doing.
no subject
There's a part of his personality that's taking notes. This is an area that he hasn't touched before, some part of science that's too in-depth for him to follow, but he'll be making the effort.]
The creatures themselves are probably from the other realities - someone in the initial chaos recognized what we were fighting from some of his memories. There are things that line up with what we know... but the idea of it being a storm created by outside parties... that's what I find odd.
I didn't get around to asking Maury about that. It seemed more pressing to get information about how to keep everyone alive... and they're tight-lipped due to some kind of weird restrictions within the company.
But it's something.
regain finally obtained hot damn
[Oh, and her eyes widen, unfocusing for a long few seconds. Oh, and surely that's a familiar expression to anyone on this app, because it means something new has just been triggered. Rosalind stares at nothing, and then, slowly:]
They could slip through a Tear . . .
[You can hear the capitalization in her voice.]
gasps
Crisis avoided, maybe.]
A Tear?
I'm not following, Prof.
no subject
[She waves her hand in an up-and-down motion, her gaze still focused elsewhere as she tries to think. The memory is new, but she's almost certain she's seen that before.]
A tear in the fabric of reality. Like a tear in a garment, you understand? A window between worlds. The city where I used to-- where she lives, they're full of them. They're--
[Oh. Oh, she most certainly remembers now. Rosalind grabs her phone, skimming through picture after picture until finally--]
This.
[Elizabeth had sent the picture to her months ago, back when she still had all her memories intact. It's the precise same thing that's showing up in her memory, and oh, she'll have to consider the implications of that soon, but one thing at a time.]
no subject
He leans in to catch the picture and his brow automatically furrows.]
How old is this? [Considering that it wasn't at the top of Rosalind's photo album.] Who found it?
[And it had to have closed if nothing came of it...? Or is it still stable somewhere and it just hadn't been mentioned?]
