TEXT ♞ INFO SHARING

Hey everyone, Souji (in blue) and Dave (in red) here. I know that some of us don't want to remember the events of last month, especially not so soon, but it's important for us to share what we found or did while it's still fresh in our minds. So, this is a general discussion post for everything that happened in August.

to that end theres gonna be an in person meeting later on possibly with refreshments
were not above bribery here even if i am personally above fancy capital letters
but info that maybe shouldnt wait for then is that team space jam found a dead dude who had a thing that said according to a sphinx
the recolle project is a thing that is like reconstruction rather than reincarnation bringing back stuff thats ours

Essentially, the Recollé Project outlines this stuff as memories, items, and abilities. Rather than regaining things from a past life like reincarnation as Dave said, it's more like regaining things that were buried - to bring them forth to us.

There wasn't much else in the report asides from a map of the city, but the sphinx (it’s a long story but it appeared to have knowledge about the project) confirmed that this was true.

so anyway bring yourselves and possibly snacks to the sandiego foundation on saturday
we will try to make sure at least one person from every team from last months little whatever is around
newbies and oldbies should both come to revel in the glory of information
and like seasonally themed snacks maybe we will have pumpkin pie because i want some
last but not least and speaking of newbies theres one more thing to go over here

It's clear that Retrospec is going to continue adding new users to their app so Dave and I thought it was best that we created a guide to Retrospec for all the future newcomers (and old users too). We're going to type something up really soon but we wanted to ask what you'd like to see in the guide. Frequently asked questions answered, what we know so far about the Retrospec team, how to change your font into a really cool colour like ours, stuff like that.

nearly as cool anyway
you have to do some serious training and animal spirit sensing to get a color as cool as this
but yeah talk at you all later
or like soonish when you reply

( ooc: this is an ic discussion and info gathering post that is open to everyone, so feel free to jump into other threads and whatnot! this takes place alongside the in-person ic info gathering post which can be found here )

I say it sounds as if it relates quite clearly. If this is all about memory, and apparently /reconstructing/ who we once were (if we are to believe this at all), then one must find a way to unlock what already lies buried.

Though it still sounds too much like mad science for my tastes.

Also, apropos of nothing, I'm still jealous you got to traipse around as a fox.

[Is he really? Or is he joking? Difficult to tell with Ardyn, as always.]

it makes sense to me and im still pretty sure im winning

[personal profile] daemonized 2017-09-06 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? Winning?

And it makes logical sense, yes, but I don't know how willing I am to accept this idea of reconstruction. It presents an issue of... well, identity, as you can obviously see.
parodeity: (NO 🎧 that sounds dumb)

[personal profile] parodeity 2017-09-06 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
not really
ive always been myself
i just forgot the details for a while
remembering them im not super shocked about it

[personal profile] daemonized 2017-09-06 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it really so easy for you to consider these new memories a part of /you/?

[But that sounds redundant, and so he tries again.]

There are things in this life (allow me to use verbiage assuming these /are/ separate lives) that do not line up very comfortably with the past one. How is a mind supposed to reconcile two sets of memories, and which does it give priority to? It isn't always so easy as accepting it without question.
parodeity: (NO 🎧 that sounds dumb)

[personal profile] parodeity 2017-09-06 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
i find it difficult to remember this life first when reacting to things nowadays
so yeah its easy
but i guess it being easy makes it hard?
whatever honestly
its not like this is anything new

importance depends on chronology and opinion probably

It being so easy is what many are worried about. Many of us do not wish for it to come so naturally; to be resistant to it, I believe, is only natural.

The choice is yours, of course. But I'm not so willing.

[If that changes? What a terrifying thought. But they'll cross that bridge when they get there.]

Are you fine with the kind of person you were? Are?

[personal profile] parodeity 2017-09-06 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
i was still me so i dont see an issue with it
anything i would "change" is unchangeable anyway

[ like, the dying and child abuse are his main issues and he already remembers them so????? CAN'T DO SHIT???? it's not like he can just go "ah yes i won't remember any of that happening to me".

he did try it didn't work ]

at this point acting like "me" before remembering would be a straight up lie
and one i sometimes play around with
but its not like being a contrary fuck and acting like none of my life mattered actually does me any good
its exhausting frankly

i dont really care what everyone else does with their own shit since its a personal thing
but i figure admitting its real might be the first step to making some big monumental change to your person
rather than pretending it isnt

[personal profile] daemonized 2017-09-06 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I wonder just how much of it /is/ unchangeable.

[He is not sure how much detail he wants to go into, especially on a prominent, public post like this, but he does want to get his point across.]

The actual events that took place, yes, those remain the same. For instance, I cannot change the fact that I did or said certain things. But I can look at them in a new light now, can I not?

But I can agree with you on this: it is exhausting. I cannot imagine what it must be like for you. How many memories have you gotten?

[personal profile] parodeity 2017-09-06 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
depends
if youre wondering that its probably changeable
if were talking about what i was alluding to its seriously unchangeable
its not like theres going to be a hard and fast answer that fits every eventuality bro

some things no matter how you look at them
theyre just what they are

hundred plus

If it's an in-between that we must settle on, some kind of compromise, we can see just how stubborn (or willing) I am to concede when we get there. I cannot change what happened, but I can change what I think about the events that took place.

But I digress before this starts going in circles.

[That's less an argument and more of an agreement.]

Are you exaggerating?

[Because. A hundred plus? Christ.]

Retrospec -- or whoever we're blaming now -- has been particularly unkind to you.

[It sounds, frankly, awful.]

And what would be the point of /that/, I wonder? That sounds less like reconstruction and more like villainy.

I think I would've missed my human nephew, sooner rather than later. Because of that, I'm glad that you've returned as you are now, despite my jealousy.
daemonized: (03)

[personal profile] daemonized 2017-09-06 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
As well as I can be. I've been trying to relax, but life only allows a certain amount of quiet before things start becoming loud once more.

And yourself? Actually, might I ask what you think of all of these new developments? "Reconstruction"?
daemonized: (69)

[personal profile] daemonized 2017-09-06 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[He definitely gets points, of course. His aim has always been for his nephews to be more open with him, though he wishes circumstances were different regardless.]

Did something happen? To make this idea of "reconstruction" even more worrisome?

The same person? Do you mean to say that your memories have been exact duplicates of each other?

[Let's start with that, first.]
daemonized: (05)

[personal profile] daemonized 2017-09-07 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's a delay before this goes through. He's putting a fair amount of consideration into this, because he didn't know their memories aligned so closely to each other.]

This means, of course, the theory before would be that you were reincarnations of the same person, as you said. But "reconstruction"... now, does that mean there were in fact /two/ variants of this same person?

And how does that settle with you?
