So I'm not a big laws guy, but I'm pretty sure walking around with a giant scythe would be against some kind of law, despite that being a shitty kind of weapon. Does it make a difference, not-getting-arrested-wise, if that scythe is a book at the time?

[He'd say something about wanting it a month or two ago, but he can't lift it when it's a scythe, so it's not that useful.]

Also Retrospec doesn't care what your legal address is, but I don't think that should surprise anyone.

Oh - hey, Chuuya. Mista's not in right now but I don't think he'll mind if you stop by.

[He trusts Chuuya, and he wouldn't let Chuuya mess up Mista's apartment. He opens up the door for Chuuya.

The scythe is still sitting on the living room floor, because where the fuck else was he going to take a picture of it.]

If he minds friends of yours stopping by, ditch him. It's a bad sign, y'know.

[not that he thinks the guy would be that way, but still.

he strolls over to the scythe, peering down at it before he crouches next to it and runs a hand over the flat of the blade.]

Shit, you weren't kidding about it being big. You seriously can't pick it up, though...?

[yeah he glanced over the rest of the post, sorry shuji.]

He wouldn't, but it's his apartment, not mine yet really...

[Shuji shakes his head at the question.]

It's way too heavy for me. I can sort of lift it like an inch, but I can't keep it off the ground for very long. Fighting with it isn't going to happen anytime soon.

You've really gotta start doing some strength training, then.

[meanwhile, chuuya will just... pick this thing up one-handed, like it's the easiest thing in the world.]

Huh... this isn't bad, though. I thought it'd be more off-balance.

[ah, caught. chuuya laughs, shaking his head.]

Maybe. For this, yeah. But- hm.

[he grips the scythe properly, this time, and deactivates his ability; he can still hold it, but he wrinkles his nose as the weight of it sets in.]

Shit, okay, it'd be hard to swing something like this around for long. Other-you must have had a hell of a lot of stamina.

[Shuji makes a squeaky noise before he can stop it and then decides that he is not going to acknowledge where his thoughts just went.]

I-I guess so? I'm a hundred percent sure he wasn't human, at least at the time he was using that, so that might have helped...

[come on, shuji, he can definitely put two and two together. there's a little snort of a laugh from him, but out of respect for the fact that shuji has a boyfriend, chuuya doesn't otherwise comment.]

If he wasn't human, what was he...? Ah, and where d'you want me to set this, I don't think you want it in the middle of the floor.

Oh, hang on-

[Shuji touches the scythe that's in Chuuya's hands, and suddenly it's not a scythe but a book with a red cover and a title that might seem familiar to him.]

I don't know exactly what he was, but he could go inside of books, and Koutarou has ink for blood, so I'm going to guess something like a living book...? I don't know.

Koutarou has what?

[nevermind the book, nevermind the rest of it. that's news to him...]

Shit. I know there are guys who are kind of- living swords, so... you think you two might be a similar sort of thing...?

...I kind of thought he would have told you by now?

[Why aren't you talking to your cousin Koutarou!!]

I- look, I haven't really told him about anything I remember, so... it's fair, I guess.

[excuse him while he just finds a spot on the couch or a chair or something, flopping down with a little huff.]

I figure he's better off not hearing about it, you know?

...I understand that - there's some things I've remembered I haven't told many people, because they're pretty upsetting. I don't have any family here, so I can't say anything about that part, but... It's your choice.

[Shuji takes a seat down next to Chuuya, close but not touching.]

The joys of remembering questionable shit, huh.

[a small smile tugs at one side of chuuya's mouth there, though. it's just sort of something he lives with at this point, or at least he'd prefer it to seem that way.

If it ever becomes a need-to-know sort of situation, maybe I'll tell him.

I'd hope so, if it's something he needs to know. With me it's more... I can't imagine a situation where you'd need to know that I remember dying. It's not really useful information for anyone.

[Just upsetting for him, and for his friends who hear about it.]

...yeah, that doesn't sound like the kind of thing you want to spill to just anyone.

[he leans back against the sofa, arms folded behind his head, and hums quietly to himself.]

Apparently I might be dead, too, so-- I can get that. I don't actually remember it yet, though.

[The words come out in a rush.]

It's terrifying, and you're more helpless than you'd ever be if you were in control of your own actions instead of just remembering someone else's, and - and I don't like to think of you feeling like that.

[He understands wanting to know what happened instead of hearing it secondhand, but... not for this.]

Shuji, hey-

[chuuya reaches over there to set a hand on shuji's shoulder, with a light little squeeze.]

...don't worry about it, okay? I don't remember it. I'm fine.

[but of course the thought bubbles give a bit of the lie to his response; one pops up there to add:

Some of that memory shit's close enough, pretty sure I could handle it.

and also:

Don't think I really like the thought of Shuji having to remember that either.]

You're fine.

[Shuji can't help but lean into Chuuya's side. The memory bubbles above their heads are noted and ignored - Shuji doesn't need to stop to read them when Chuuya's words are enough.]

I'll try not to worry about it. Past you doesn't sound like he'd have the same kind of issue as past me when it comes to dying, and you're stronger than I am, so - even if you do remember it, maybe it won't be as hard for you.
