So I'm not a big laws guy, but I'm pretty sure walking around with a giant scythe would be against some kind of law, despite that being a shitty kind of weapon. Does it make a difference, not-getting-arrested-wise, if that scythe is a book at the time?

[He'd say something about wanting it a month or two ago, but he can't lift it when it's a scythe, so it's not that useful.]

Also Retrospec doesn't care what your legal address is, but I don't think that should surprise anyone.

It's definitely meant to be a weapon, as stupid as that is.

Do concealed weapon laws cover 'it's a book until I touch it and decide that it should be a scythe, then it's a scythe'? Because I don't think they cover that exact scenario, but you'd know better than I would.

A concealed weapon is defined as a dangerous weapon that is carried in such a manner as to not be discernible by the ordinary observation of a passerby. That includes a weapon that is carried in a bundle that is held or carried by the individual. Technically one could argue that the scythe book counts. I'm sure there are several possible counter arguments as well based on how the item works.

That said. Off the record. If you want to carry the scythe in book form for reading or the off chance Retrospec drops a monster in your path then I'm sure the police officers on the network would be forgiving. I know I wouldn't pursue charges in these circumstances. Just. Handle it safely. Make sure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands or turn into a scythe at a bad time. Obviously, don't attack or threaten anyone with it except in self defense.

You can't help what Retrospec sends you. I'm not at liberty to talk about the details but your scythe isn't the oddest or most worrisome thing someone has received before.

Have you considered practicing with it or a similar weapon in a safe environment? A number of people have been doing that sort of thing at the Utsuki dojo.

Not a lot of practice is getting done with the scythe until I can actually lift it off the ground. What would a similar weapon even be?

It's that big? That's an impressive scythe. [ He chuckles under his breath. ] Are we talking about something that would take two people to lift?

The people in charge at the dojo might have some better ideas. First thing that comes to my mind is some sort of long staff like weapon. Something that you can hold the same way a scythe would be held.

One person who isn't as scrawny as me could lift it, but not well enough to actually use it as a weapon for very long. It's heavy.

Maybe some kind of axe would work...?

An axe... is in a sense similar in shape. Can't say I recommend practicing with a real axe inside a dojo full of people or even on your own if you aren't comfortable handling it. You might be better off with a dull bladed regular scythe for gardening or farming.

A regular scythe isn't a weapon. Even this scythe is still a stupid weapon.

Quick question just out of curiosity, does the book form have any contents?

It seems like it's an entire novel. 'Disqualified From Being Human' by my past self's pen name. I say 'seems like' because it's in Japanese, Tokyo dialect, and I'm really not good at reading that.

There are some people who are fluent in Japanese on the app if you'd like to ask for help with that. Don't know how personal the contents are though.

I couldn't help noticing you said "my past self" just now. Do you believe that we were the people in the memories? Not many people do.
