So I'm not a big laws guy, but I'm pretty sure walking around with a giant scythe would be against some kind of law, despite that being a shitty kind of weapon. Does it make a difference, not-getting-arrested-wise, if that scythe is a book at the time?

[He'd say something about wanting it a month or two ago, but he can't lift it when it's a scythe, so it's not that useful.]

Also Retrospec doesn't care what your legal address is, but I don't think that should surprise anyone.

There have been other polearms floating around. Heard somebody was working with a spear.

Heh, no, unfortunately. Think he keeps getting them from martial arts supply stores or, you ever seen those guys on the net who dress up in armor and pretend it's the 1500's? Apparently some of them will make stuff for you?

Which brings up the disturbing question of why so many people are getting archaic weapons.

If it's our past selves, then it makes sense for them to have been in the past. Some of us are just more past than others.

The things Retrospec has been showing me definitely aren't from the past. Maybe the future. People with machine parts, robots shaped like giant spiders.

But I'll continue to argue that there's no proof these other lives are tied to our own.

The best I can do is argue that they don't change who we are now, even if they are tied to our lives.

I can agree with that sentiment, at least.

It's frustrating that Retrospec keeps putting this in front of us. Connected to us or not, it's this mystery to solve. I want to know more, but not at the cost that Retrospec seems to be asking of us.

Same. I want to figure out what's going on, but I can only handle so much mentally. And I have classes, and a life, and I can't just take off a year to work out Retrospec's thing.

Seriously. We all cope in different ways, and apparently mine is going through all the really specific details of Recolle's weapons laws. At least it's helping out somebody else.

Some people are getting really invested in different parts of the information hunt to try to get some sense of control back. It apparently helps?

Sounds like it would. It's better than just feeling helpless in the face of all this. I'm not sure what I can do, unless maybe going through Recolle's literature history would help...

Honestly? I think that would be a help.

I'm not being patronizing, I promise. Anybody who can look into any sort of Recolle's history and background would help. We kept seeing things that suggested the very founding of the city might be tied into Retrospec. They could have been around the whole time and we never would have noticed until we 'woke up,' so to speak.

And that's not my area of expertise.

Leave it to me! I'll track down Recolle's notable authors and their bodies of work. No one's better than me at acquiring obscure books I really want to read!

Wait, there was that name somebody came across, a researcher.

Ah. James Halliday? Supposedly a memory researcher? If he wrote anything, I'm sure a lot of us would love to know what it was.

You find anything, just let everybody know, don't think you only have to bring it right back to me. I'd just post it up on the network anyway.
