I came home to find this guy in my apartment. Anyone know anything about owls? It's acting like it knows me! Like, IT'S WAVING!

I think that's a good idea. I don't think the owl will mind much?

I'm looking at a name website right now. These names stick out: Aubrey, Pip, Bronte, Blythe, Darcy, Selby. Help. I don't know how to name a bird!

Pip sounds so cute...

But looking at the owl, I think he's more of a Darcy or Aubrey?

... I admit, I'm terrible at naming things myself.

I'm already second guessing naming it Pip. I think it needs a more dignified name. It is a large owl after all. Aubrey isn't bad. I am also leaning towards Bronte.

Bronte has a lot of personality, I think. Very dignified and regal. So the owl might appreciate that.

I'll probably name it Bronte then. I'll have to see if it likes it, try the name out for a few days.

Do you know how to take care of an owl?

Ha ha...nope. But I've gotten advice from various people and I'm going to have to do some research.

I wish you luck. I'm thinking of purchasing an animal but I don't think I'd have the guts to try an owl... they seem like they'd need a lot of special, personalized care.

Any animal, no matter how domesticated or rare, need special, personalized care. You just need to do your research (like me)and make sure you can afford what you are getting. That is what I normally do, Retrospec just didn't give me a choice.

Will you be able to afford your owl? I didn't even consider what you'd have to feed it.

I hope so. I might have to put less away in savings to do so, but I think I can manage.

Well, please let everyone know how it goes, if you're able to. I don't think there's an overabundance of owls in shelters, but just in case!

I have a feeling my owl is different than the ones in the shelters. Besides, aren't most owls in human captivity in sanctuaries? As far as I know they don't allow adoptions. Besides, I think raising a hamster will be easier than raising an owl.

I wouldn't know, I admit. I'm not familiar with this country's laws, and I don't know much about owls to begin with.

Owls are definitely not a normal pet to have.

In that case... there's not a rule saying you can't have one, is there?

I should hope you wouldn't have to set it free because of a technicality.
