Li-Na Yiu shared a video.
10/04 near Viea Village
[The video opens with a shot of a pair of black, shiny ballet flats. But there is a... odd quality to the shine. An almost metallic look to it.]
So... I got these in the mail today. From Retrospec. I guess they belong to the girl I am having memories of?
[Her hand appears in the frame as she picks up one of the shoes and turns it from side to side.]
I am not sure what to think of them? The material is a little... stiff?
[She taps the shoe against the table they are sitting on, which produces a soft metallic sound.]
Well. They are my size.
[Her phone camera bobs as she sets the shoes on the ground and slips her feet inside. A second later, the shoes come to life, WRAPPING their way up her legs until they reach mid-thigh. Though, that detail might get lost, as the moment the shoes... boots start to shift, Li-Na drops her phone and begins to scream.]

Lenalee? Lenalee! What's wrong? I'm coming!

I... I put the shoes on. They... they grow boots.
[If Chiyo looks closely at Li-Na's feet, she'll actually see the original outline of the flats, though they are seamlessly connected to the black metallic material that's wrapped up to her thighs.]

She scrambles to take a closer look at the shoes. She feels for the outline of the flats and tugs as hard as she can, hoping that will get them to budge at least a little. ]

[ She's so worried. She's beyond worried. ]

[her phone rings and Li-Na looks at the caller ID]
Noah! He has memories of her. He might know!
[let's insert Li-Na's phone call with Noah right here, trying to keep threads from overlapping... they only talk for about 30 seconds though, b/c then Li-Na's phone just up and DIES ON HER]
He says I should be able to turn them off...

[ That shouldn't be her first concern, but Chiyo's doing that. There's a charger nearby. ]
Did he tell you how they can be turned off?
[ She heard Li-Na say something about weapons, but she wants to save that conversation for later, for after they take care of these boots. ]

He says I can control them. Tell them to turn off.
[she looks down at the boots and tries to focus her mind on them]
Turn off.
[nothing happens. Li-Na huffs in frustration. no, what was that word Noah had used... it meant 'turn off' but it was different...]
Chiyo, what are other words for 'turn off'?

[ Being put on the spot makes her freeze, but she has to try her best for Li-Na's sake. She has to help somehow. Be smart, Chiyo Matsuoka! For Li-Na! ]

[Sorry Chiyo, she's a little too flustered still to properly sort through her English, but she knows she'll know it if she hears it]
Yes! That's the one.
[Li-Na fixes the boots with a stern expression as she firmly says the word and thinks hard about the boots turning back into their original shoe shape]
Deactivate.
[There's an almost green shimmer as the boots unwrap themselves from her legs and shrink back until they are just ballet flats again. Li-Na quickly pulls them off.]

I'm so glad you're okay! And that you can take those off. I don't want to think about what we'd have to do if you couldn't. [ But more importantly.... ] Did Noah say he remembers what those boots do?

Superpowered boots? Magical boots? I can kind of see that, but if they attach themselves to you like that without warning... I don't think that's good.

[she draws her knees up to her chest and wraps her arms around her legs]

[ She puts back in the box and stores them out in the hallway closet, tucked under a bunch of other shoe boxes.
She comes back to Li-Na and wraps her arms around her in a loose hug. ]
That was scary, huh? You don't have to touch them again, if you don't want. It's okay. What you do with the other memories that come to you is your choice. They shouldn't own you.
