[The video opens with a shot of a pair of black, shiny ballet flats. But there is a... odd quality to the shine. An almost metallic look to it.] So... I got these in the mail today. From Retrospec. I guess they belong to the girl I am having memories of? [Her hand appears in the frame as she picks up one of the shoes and turns it from side to side.] I am not sure what to think of them? The material is a little... stiff? [She taps the shoe against the table they are sitting on, which produces a soft metallic sound.] Well. They are my size. [Her phone camera bobs as she sets the shoes on the ground and slips her feet inside. A second later, the shoes come to life, WRAPPING their way up her legs until they reach mid-thigh. Though, that detail might get lost, as the moment the shoes... boots start to shift, Li-Na drops her phone and begins to scream.]

[He watches the video. At first it doesn't seem like anything special, but when she taps the shoe- the metallic sound? It's all too familiar. His claws make that sound when they hit something.

Too bad it's a video and not in person, because he sure yelled "Don't put them on-" but like she could hear that? And it's too late, the shoes are on and COMING TO LIFE. Shit man. So that was her weapon.

[Li-Na pauses in her frantic attempts to peel the boots off her legs whenh er phone suddenly rings. Grabbing her phone she looks at the caller ID... and immediately answers.]

Noah! Noah, they won't come off!

[yeah... she's pretty freaked out and close to tears]

[redarm]

[The poor girl...he can't even blame her. He was screaming his head off when his arm showed up.

But that didn't mean he wanted Li-Na to have to through the same ordeal.]

Li-Na, it's okay. Take a deep breath.

Try to focus and will the shoes to deactivate.

[Li-Na hiccups as fights back a sob]

They won't come off. Noah, I can't take them off.

[just keep talking to her Noah]

I know, it's freaky. But it'll be okay.

They're probably your power. You remember anything about that in your visions?

[invocate]

No... no, I don't...

[and then a thought comes to mind, something she hadn't paid much attention to when she'd remembered the memories, but now... with the pressure and weight of these things on her legs...]

They were heavy... her feet and legs... they were sort of heavy...

[ Chiyo's in her room, not on Retrospec for once, working on a sketch for the first time in a long while when she hears Lenalee scream. She drops everything, trips on her way out of her bedroom, and bolts for it. ]

Lenalee? Lenalee! What's wrong? I'm coming!

[Chiyo will find Li-Na collapsed on the floor, whimpering as she frantically claws at the tops of the boots. Because they will. not. come. off.]

[admiringly]

[ Once she enters the room, Chiyo immediately kneels at Li-Na's side, her hands hovering over her. ]

What happened? What can I do for you?

[ How does she help? What did her boots do? Is this some new Retrospec thing? ]

[Li-Na looks up at Chiyo, panic in her eyes.]

I... I put the shoes on. They... they grow boots.

[If Chiyo looks closely at Li-Na's feet, she'll actually see the original outline of the flats, though they are seamlessly connected to the black metallic material that's wrapped up to her thighs.]

[admiringly]

[ Chiyo wants to curse. She's panicking, too, because seeing Li-Na look like that is awful. This isn't right.

She scrambles to take a closer look at the shoes. She feels for the outline of the flats and tugs as hard as she can, hoping that will get them to budge at least a little. ]

Come— off!

[invocate]

[Chiyo ends up tugging at Li-Na's whole leg. It's fit so closely to her leg it's like a second skin.]

Ah! No, I do not think that will work...

[blondferret]

[Derek is watching the video and trying to ignore this constant hissing Blaise is making at the eagle owl in the apartment. When he heard Li-Na say the gift was from Retrospec he took a look glance at his owl. That was probably where this guy game from. He looks back at the video and watches in horror as the boots wrap around her legs and she starts screaming. Derek quickly ends the video and tries calling her but all he hears is the busy signal. Damn. He hopes she is talking to someone who knows what do do about it. He switches to his text screen.]

Hey, I saw your video. Are you ok?

[some twenty minutes later, Li-Na finally replies]

Yes. I got something that belongs to the girl in my memories. It startled me.

[that's putting it kind of lightly Li-Na......]

Startle you? Li-Na you were SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER! I think it more than startle you. What did those shoes do?

They are boots. They grew into boots. I did not expect it.

[how to say 'they wrapped up my legs like a boa constrictor about to squeeze its prey']

It must have done it in a creepy way for you to scream that bad. Usually a person just goes "WOAH!" ya know? Or maybe that's just me.

Creepy? Yes, it was creepy. They curl up the legs.
I think curl is right word.

they wrap up my legs very fast. shoes should not do that.

not saying i disagree
but i’m willing to give that pass if it’s not, like, eating you alive or stealing limbs or whatever
could be worse

now i know they do that, i am okay. but it was not a good surprise.
