Derek Matthews shared a video.
11/4 near Tisse
[The video open to Derek with a serious face. When he starts speaking, it comes out in a English accent. (ooc. The clip is mildly spoilery for Season 3 of The Flash).]
So... it's been two days and I think I've calmed down a bit. I've spoken to a couple of people about it, but I'd like to know if anyone else has had to deal with this. I know on this app people have acquired entire languages, such as Japanese and Russian, however, I have yet to come across someone who has received an entire accent.
I am originally from England, but once I moved to America I completely lost it and I've been speaking with an American accent since... until now I guess.
[Derek pauses for a second before speaking again.]
Bloody hell, please tell me I'm not the only one who has had to deal with this?
[Derek attempts to speak in an American accent but comes out horribly with a really bad southern flair to it.]
I can't even do a proper American Accent anymore!
[Derek reverts back to his English accent.]
I sound like a complete tosser!

[At least he's fairly obvious about it when he's being facetious.]

That said, thankfully I've been spared from any truly bizarre changes in anything at all so far. Even the hallucinations have been relatively tame, if uncalled for and occurring at rather unwanted moments. Fortunate for me, I suppose.

Well... considering my first memory haunted me six times last month... I'd say last month was worse.
My first memory was of a dementor, which I mentioned earlier. The effects a dementor has on a human, feeling as if you won't feel happy again and feeling a chill, I felt them for a while after I had the memory. They also have the ability to suck out your soul... so I consider myself lucky to be alive.

[cumore, for fuck's sake.
granted, given that his sense of empathy is a case study in "and then it just didn't", this is just how he deals with things. if he likes you well enough he at least tries to listen and not immediately ollie out with the general sentiment of THANKS, I HATE IT, and in the end he's kind of a flippant asshole but at least he's still around, which has to count for something. he tried, no one should criticize him, etc.]

At the same time, I do believe in making one's own luck. Perhaps an opportunity will present itself eventually, at least in that regard.

[Uh-oh, philosophical Derek is coming out.]

Honestly, I'd argue that there are some things that they aren't capable of taking away from us in the first place - destiny can definitely be manipulated, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't say that it can be influenced entirely outside of what's already meant to be in some way or another. And that's largely decided by the individuals involved, whether separately or as a collective.
That isn't to say that the manipulation aspect itself isn't horribly tedious, because it certainly is - but it isn't like we're dealing with some sort of omnipresent beings here, either.

Some of us yeah, but not all.

[Like, there are a lot of ways to describe that, but "sane" isn't one of them.]
