Hello Users,

Please be advised that the temporal-spatial storm has now passed. Temporary access levels have been revoked. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please also be advised that as the storm has passed, work has resumed on certain other issues.

You have my sincere thanks for your assistance.

Thank you,

Janet Halloway

Retrspec Incorporated

As of this post, the city has completely returned to normal; damage has been fixed, monsters are gone, and NPCs now believe that monsters are definitely not normal but don't seem to remember them having been a thing. Oops? All weapons and powers gained in their various locations / as QR codes are now gone, additionally. Group 1 locations can no longer be accessed.

Retrospec NPCs will not be reachable past this point! As mentioned to various members of group one, the Director does not approve of Retrospec's team speaking with its users, so NPC interaction will drop back down to what it originally was at this time. Doing research for these people will also net zero results.

City-based NPCs will now remember members of group two! They will simply be under the belief that group two members were on vacation/had a family emergency/etc. No consequences will come from them being away at their jobs or school or anything else!

Furthermore:

-Horses are now regarded as valid mythological creatures! So you get mildly less strange looks for talking about them.
-Photographs and text, online and off, now have the color blue again!
-Visual video media (online, in theaters, etc) now has the color green once again! This does not include text yet.
-There has been a new list of karaoke songs added to the city of Recollé! These songs can now be found in karaoke bars and machines all across the city and even can be sold on CDs for your own karaoke parties.
-The Crow's Nest now has locations across the world, including a brand new location right in the heart of Recollé! After August's plot wraps up, be sure to grab a bite to eat and say hi to Kenny Crow.
-Finally, the ocean has been restored! It's still gray, however. Keep working together to buy back world changes.

Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently.

Hitori Togusa The power's gone. It's quiet again. I don't know if I could take much more of that.

Elda Marker Wait, which power?
Elda Marker The one you got out of box?

The one that showed up right when Retrospec's lovely timer set off, yeah.

Since a number of other people got powers or augmentations to those powers when Retrospec completed the 'weapons protocol' I'm going to guess that's what Jim did to us thanks to the Bingo game.

Mine didn't vanish.

The oar and the little bat did I think, but I'm still super strong.

That's. Not good. When did the power show up?

I thought when I opened the box.

Maybe it wasn't then

My official advice would be to schedule a visit with Dr. Trevelyan or talk to Dr. Sutcliffe. If it's some kind of permanent change? Then they'd be able to tell you what's different.

Retrospec made it sound like they didn't have the ability to extend the borrowed powers longer than they did. If they were lying?

I don't even know what to do. I only went along with it because I knew all those weapons were going to vanish, it would all get taken right back off the streets.
matchbreaker: (the one below was the worse option)

... I do have one other thing that I probably need to test. I'll do that tonight or tomorrow and look into it. But if the strength wasn't because of that then there might be something else going on there.

What, you knew they were all temporary?
standalonehuman: (TogusaTalk)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2017-08-26 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Not at the beginning.

When Retrospec said they were going to activate the Weapons Protocol? Right before they were going to drag everyone back? Their options sounded very very familiar. So I figured that's what Jim did to us right at the Convention incident.

It all means that Jim, at least, knew this was coming. He knew something was going to happen. And he knew when. "See you next month, or some of you." And the Bingo game. That was how he got us the powers.

I got a little angry at the technician who was activating the weapons protocol. But when she said it would all go away? Then I was willing to help out.

They planned for this? Everything we heard made it sound like some storm rolled through here. If they knew about it, they should have planned more for it.

We met with a chief security guy, I guess him being locked up might not have helped.
standalonehuman: (TogusaTalkDown)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2017-08-26 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Aha. Does their chief security guy have a name? I might have some constructive criticism for their security system in their basement.

Current theory, okay, follow me on this. Jim knew it was coming. But their scientist, Dr. Mahoney? She seemed completely blindsided and overwhelmed. So did Maurice, their intern. And a bunch of Retrospec staff got caught up in the storm. They might not have needed to call us in at all if people like the guy you found weren't pulled into it.

So. Jim knew. Retrospec as a whole might not have.

You think Halloway has that much power and insight? That's a somewhat spooky theory.

Mr. Baroque. He's a huge man, impossible to miss, if they allowed us to see him.
standalonehuman: (TogusaTalk2)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2017-08-26 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
This is one of those theories where I want to be wrong. But, given the timing of the end of the Bingo game? Too much adds up in that direction. But I won't shut out any proof to the opposite.

Baroque. Okay. Didn't see his name on anything. Retrospec's security is interesting. Mostly mechanical, robots. I'm betting there's a reason for that.
matchbreaker: (Lost control of ur life)

Right. Because those are real.

I guess, how cyber-ized (?) is he? How much is synthetic?
matchbreaker: (wait that's the wrong lyrics)

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-08-26 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
The big stand out part was on of his eyes. I didn't notice too much more than that, so maybe less than half?
standalonehuman: (TogusaHunh)

/strangles Togusa, you aren't allowed to remember that for another week!

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2017-08-26 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Eyes?

Okay, that's weird.

So, their robots. They were good at adapting to any powers used on them. They've got defenses against the very stuff that they can grant to people.
matchbreaker: (Hell Cat!)

O o ps

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-08-26 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I had to look up at him though, he was at least 6'5

... Or powers they encountered before, assuming my super strength was mine and not theirs. and I know some others can do stuff like light on fire.

Yeaaaah.

[God damn it, Souji.]

I know healers. A lot of healers, really. Hunh.

You think there's a difference in the permanent powers and the temporary ones, then?

Same. I was *just* figuring out how to fly on purpose, Retrospec, what the fuck?
standalonehuman: (TogusaConcerned)

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2017-08-26 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
What you could do before this all started, though? You've still got that ability?
twelfthspark: ([:)] now hold on to me pretty baby)

The lightning? 👍 Yeah, I can still do that.

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2017-08-30 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
And everybody who got guns got to keep what they'd been sent before this incident, but not what Retrospec handed out with that 'weapons protocol.'

I guess they kept their word. I just wish they'd explain more, too.
twelfthspark: ([:|a] if what they say is true)

[personal profile] twelfthspark 2017-08-30 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
I only know one guy who got a gun I should see if he still has it.

Me too, but it's never gonna happen. That would make too much sense.

[personal profile] standalonehuman 2017-09-08 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'd really appreciate if you checked up on that?

Actually, don't even tell me who it is. Pass along the advice, if he still has it, he can get it registered at the Public Safety Office. The office might confiscate it if they can't figure it out, but every time, Retrospec has sent the guns back with a valid registration.
