why are most aliens in movies insects actually

here's what i've theorized so far:
galaxy: milky way (they're close!)
kind: sponge-like with tentacles
diet: carbon-based lifeforms (humans!!!)
i've never understood the fascination with insect-like aliens myself.
that doesn't make them scary! we squish tiny aliens every day if they were like that!

my research has shown that aliens hate deliciously sweet things
so if you don't want to get eaten by one when they come just drink a lot of soda!

or is this like a conclusion you came to after you started that habit
just out of curiosity as to which is the chicken and which is the egg in this scenario

really it's a win win because it's delicious and it will probably keep aliens from eating me if they can smell it in my bloodstream
but yes the soda came first and i have no regrets
