Welcome to Retrospec™, the last social media network you will ever need. You are one of the few selected to test this exciting new platform based on our cutting-edge algorithms. Less than two hundred invitations have gone out, and membership is not currently open to the public. However, we hope you will come to see how useful Retrospec™ is, given time. We have for your use a variety of features such as text, voice, video, and image posts. We encourage you to explore our many options.

Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. As a reminder, everything besides uploading a profile picture and information was locked until this post. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently. Oddly, profile pictures still cannot be swapped out at this time, so hopefully you took a good one.

I suppose that's actually very good advice, considering how far it's invaded our personal lives. I've heard of people getting into a lot of trouble online before.

Are you a professor, though?
myboggartisthemoon: (welcome to my office)

[personal profile] myboggartisthemoon 2017-02-01 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That is correct. Both the high school and university found themselves lacking someone to do basic science courses, and I was kindly granted the honor of filling in where the need exists.

I see. It's nice to meet you. I might be enrolling for next year, so I suppose it's good to meet one of the professors early on? I'm still working on saving up enough so I don't have to take out too big a loan.

Not all of my colleagues are entirely up to speed on social media, I'm afraid -- thought most of them embrace the Internet and electronic communication wonderfully. The difference between these days and my undergraduate years can't be overemphasized, and I mean that for the better.

Have you looked into grants and scholarships at this time?

I can only imagine. Most of the middle-aged customers I see complain about social media a lot when they talk about their children.

Do they have many of those for recent citizens? I would think there isn't as much if you just became a citizen from France, so I hadn't looked into it too much.

I must admit I do not know, but I certainly can help you look. The admissions offices are reliable and helpful in these matters. Locally that is a rather specific niche, but you may also consider national scholarships as well.

I can definitely look into this. Anything that could help is worth getting, after all. College is very expensive, so I don't want to stretch my finances too far.

By all means check out the admissions office here, they have an excellent list of resources. Beyond that... ah, well, my own history isn't much help here, but I well understand the struggle.

It's fine, professor. You're already being very helpful, so I appreciate it. I will have to visit that website this evening. And you're a science teacher?
myboggartisthemoon: (welcome to my office)

[personal profile] myboggartisthemoon 2017-02-01 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I am, yes. Intro-level classes only, but those are often all the science anyone receives, particularly if they're going into a liberal-arts field.

Ah, ok. I remember that a few of the teachers at my high school said the advanced courses there were similar to the ones in college, so it makes sense that you might teach both. Especially if one is short staffed.

What is your favorite science?
myboggartisthemoon: (a happy smile)

[personal profile] myboggartisthemoon 2017-02-02 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
John R. Lunise Physics. Without question. The fundamental building blocks of existence. The rules on which the blocks are built, in fact. The purest science, for if you get any purer it becomes mathematics.

I was never very good at mathematics myself. I found botany and biology much more interesting when I was in school. But, since I am a florist, I guess that fits.

Biology is just chemistry. And chemistry is just physics. The world, however, has need for biologist, and florists, perhaps more than it does physicists.

That's very kind of you. At the very least, the right flower can improve a person's mood, and it can send a special message if it's done right. I really enjoy working with them.

Brighten days, charm lovers, or simply freshen up a place. All very useful, all very valuable, and all done best when done knowledgeably.

Almost every culture I know of has a language that they speak with flowers. I like to keep a record of the things that people will say with flower combinations. It tells quite an interesting story. And soon, it will be the season of flowers. Founders Day is good, but we get our best business right after.

[personal profile] myboggartisthemoon 2017-02-02 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
It's a world of which I know nothing, so glimpses of it are interesting indeed. Perhaps this new forum would be an excellent place to tell us all about them?
true_noir: (Cloak16)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-02-02 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
I might enjoy doing that one of these days, yes. It would be a chance to share something of myself and the things I love. Perhaps, though, after Founder's Day and all this chaos dies down. It's still quite confusing right now, with the new app.
myboggartisthemoon: (weary but okay)

[personal profile] myboggartisthemoon 2017-02-02 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
I don't find it all that confusing, but then, I have been through many more forms of electronic communication than you in my history.
true_noir: (Not my favorite of topics)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-02-02 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. I just don't understand how they found us or chose us. It's a little disconcerting to me, and I'm trying not to think about it too much.

[personal profile] myboggartisthemoon 2017-02-02 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
If I had to guess, I'd say random by IP address. Everyone seems to be local, after all.
true_noir: (Default)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-02-02 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
I remember IPs. The only problem is that they seem to hit phones and computers, and even changing your phones doesn't work. But maybe they found us through them in the first place?
myboggartisthemoon: (thoughtful in shadow)

[personal profile] myboggartisthemoon 2017-02-02 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
It may in fact be associated with the school or university, given the number of students I see on here.
true_noir: (Default)

[personal profile] true_noir 2017-02-02 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe? I see others who don't seem to be in the school, but maybe we'll find out as time goes. I hope so.
