Please feel free to use this post as a network mingle. Every toplevel can be considered a new post, and threadjacking is permitted. No NPC response will be given. Usernames are the character's full real AU names, not aliases or chosen nicknames or usernames, and seemed to have filled themselves in; nothing characters do can change or obscure their names currently. Characters who have been in game for one month will find they can now change their profile pictures; newcomers are locked into their first choice.

Upon opening this entry at all, characters will find themselves spammed with notifications and strange glitched texts until they make some sort of suggestion for a new application feature on the Retrospec app. This can range from a personalized friends list to a watermelon image gallery to a watergun charging station. It doesn't have to make sense or be useful - it just has to be a suggestion, at which point the application will return to normal.

I can't decide which of my suggestions is more likely to get implemented. Fixing all their bugs or adding in cuter, catchier notif tones.
Can't decide which I'd prefer they put in for that matter.
Either way what's the point of forcing us to give them suggestions when they pretty much just do whatever the fuck they want?

I am still very fuzzy on the why. All of this nonsense for no clear reason. I have been looking for something being advertised, and I still cannot find it. How are they making money?

Maybe some bored rich asshole needed a hobby and he figured programming was a good one. So he's just shoving his shitty attempt at making an app on us or something.
Or some bored hacker kid thought it'd be funny. With the way this thing is acting it sure does feel like some big prank. (¬_¬)

I would really love it if it were just a prank. It would feel less troubling than the other possibilities. So, today, I will believe it is just a prank gone horribly wrong that we are stuck with.

It doesn't solve anything, but it feels much better to have a target, even if only fake.

Hell even the glitching could be part of the prank. Make this seem like the next great social platform and just mess with everyone like this. Haha, real funny right?

Hilarious. And of course, the more that we think about it, the more that we drive ourselves crazy trying to decide what is truly going on. It is like a vicious cycle of sorts, is it not?

At least it's not a bad way to improve your social circle. It's got that going for it. Making connections is proving to be pretty easy when this app is forcing so many people to use it.

I prefer not to think of myself as a slave, though I do seem to be a captive audience of sorts. And yes, you already see the value of it, for what it is worth. After all, most of us share one thing in common.

a suggestions box doesn't necessarily mean they have to take all of them into account though. cute notif tones sound doable! but it looks like many other suggestions will take several months to develop

Sure, but there's a difference between a suggestion box and holding our phones hostage until we give them a suggestion.
It'd be nice to know that if they're going to pull bullshit like that we can at least expect some of these suggestions to be used? I don't think that's asking for too much. ┐(￣ヘ￣)┌

i didn't think they'd do that too. it's pretty frustrating... but i think they plan to take at least *some** of the suggestions. why bother asking for them if not?
what do you have in mind for notifs? i think bird chirps would be cute, and not as bothersome when 500+ messages come in all at once like they do every time Retrospec makes an update

I won't be so annoyed if they do, that's for sure. At least show they sort of care about our opinions if they're going to force this app on us.
Bird chirps would be pretty cute, yeah. Maybe something like a soft bell sound, like those bells on cat collars? Guess that wouldn't fix the 500+ messages problem, though I'm not sure how eager I'd be to hear birds for an hour while those pour in.
Cute little tunes too could be nice. Like I have a few songs I'd use if they'd let me upload my own sounds and I knew how to shorten them enough to use them.

it's pretty much empty! and you kind of get locked in, unless they've fixed the door since the last time i've been there... but letters can be slid under the door with no danger of getting trapped, i'd imagine. there's a whole building, so i'm sure people have to work there.

Sounds like someone needs to learn how to appreciate the cuter things in life if you ask me.

Right? Who decided limiting the sounds you could pick was a good idea? Whoever it was should be fired if you ask me.
Along with however decided it was a good idea to make this app self-installing. And the guy who thought of the whole "fill in your name automatically for you" thing. Actually a lot of their team should be fired.

If they fired everyone though, wouldn't the app be super different? I can wait if they actually fix it...
