If Retrospec gives you an item that you suspect is a murder weapon, what do you do with it? Should it be turned into the police or do you just keep it somewhere...? And what if you accidentally already got your fingerprints all over it...?

Well, the strange thing is that I’m pretty sure that this item doesn’t belong to me.

And it’s not a cause where I just don’t remember doing the act or anything like that. I distinctly remember that I found this knife (or a very similar one) with a body.

I've never heard of anyone regaining something that didn't belong to them before... but if it was in your memories, then I guess Retrospec must consider it fair game. Interesting...

That being said, I don't think the police here can really do anything about it if it was used in a murder that happened in your last life. Still, I'd get rid of it if I were you, too. Otherwise, someone might find it and assume it was used to murder someone in this city even if that's not actually the case.

Just make sure you wipe it down first so it can't be traced back to you, or else getting rid of it will be pointless.

That seems like a good idea... the last thing I'd want is to get arrested for something I didn't do and for a murder that didn't happen in this world.

For some reason though, I'm a little hesitant to just throw it out. I definitely don't want to keep it but I also don't want to just toss it into the river or something. It's hard to explain... but there wouldn't be any problem throwing it back in the mailbox, would it?

...I'm not actually sure. I've never really thought of that... I've been pretty hesitant to give up an item that was sent to me by Retrospec despite knowing what it can do myself.

Why don't you try it and let me know how it goes?

Sure. I'll probably be putting it back in the mailbox later today or tomorrow? So I'll let you know the results after I find out.

... though I've been told that it's safe and also that the inside of the mailbox is "really dark"?

And yeah, it's supposedly safe as long as you don't try to put anything that wasn't originally placed in there by Retrospec in it. Otherwise, firecrackers and grenades would probably be going into it all the time. However, that description sounds pretty ominous... [ all the more reason bakhura isn't the one who's gonna be testing it, tbh!! ]

Are we sure it doesn't take Retrospec users, too? Or won't in the future?

What do you mean by taking Retrospec users? You mean trying to actually go into the mailbox??

If it's as dark as people are saying, then it has to lead somewhere, right? Is it possible to reach the back of the mailbox with your bare hands, or is it just an endless void?

I don't know. I didn't try putting my arm into the mailbox...

But a friend of mine put in his talking rabbit back into the mailbox and when he took him back out, the rabbit said that it was just "dark". I don't think he was allowed to move anywhere.

From your friend's... rabbit's description, it sounds like it's just a really big mailbox on the inside... but at the same time, if his rabbit couldn't move, then something else must be at play. Some magic or a force field, possibly.

At least, that would be my first guess.
