[ It's ass at night and Elda Marker, made more awake by the fact she keeps finding herself waking up later and later especially on weekends when her son doesn't have school is wide awake. As such, she makes her own variation on one of those cerebral posts a friend of hers makes sometimes: ]

So what's something you've wanted to tell someone, but haven't? Or something you absolutely don't want to tell someone? Or have been fretting about? I'm no qualified therapist, but I am older than many of the people on this app, so maybe I can help. Even if I can't, I can hear it out.

I'll make mine public: The woman in my memories survived an attempt to exterminate her race, and I have no idea how to begin to handle that memory. I've tried to ignore it for months.

Mine's related to Retrospec stuff, but it doesn't have to be obviously.

It would be cool if you could though, even if it's weird. I mean, where does all the extra weight go to become a cute little bat? But still, commanding bats can be fun too. Can you affect other animals?

Nah! Just bats.

[ Brushing back some hair... ]

Just bats? [ And he just kinda pouts at that because stories talk about controlling all kinds of animals. But still. ]

That's still cool. Bats are so neat.

Oh, they are, it's true! They also really kinda... uploaded a lot of extra bat knowledge in my brain.

[ Sheepishly, she smiles. ]

Really? That's just so cool!

[ Ah yes, that moment when the cold face breaks for his love of all things that were not human adults. ]

Can you speak to them or anything? Or is the control more like a mental power?

It's mental-emotional, mostly.

[ But she holds out her left arm off camera and then a few seconds later, she pulls it own, revealing a bat hanging off it. ]

But I can also get a sense for what they mean?

Huh.

[ His hands twitch at the appearance of the bat. While he knew that Elda was able to do that because of her bond with the animal, and he couldn't, he still just wanted to once pet the fuzzy flying creature. ]

If the bond is emotional, you could read that a little? Maybe?

Something like that. I'm still playing around with the ability. I think there's some more I've not worked out yet.

[ she smiles at the bat, pulling her hand down to bring it more clearly into focus. ]

So cute...

[ And yes, his soft voice just went breathy and cute before he presses his fingers against his mouth. Animals are cute, even when they are tiny flying foxes. ]

You'll figure it out though. It will take time, right?

Time or inspiration or both, yeah. I'm not really sure what'll work it out for me.

[ But... cute...? Heheh, yeah, it- ah, he is. ]

[ He nods. ]

Or even a memory boost? But those aren't always useful.

Well I suppose that's possible too, yes.

But working on it without help that way would probably be funner, right?

I don't know about fun? I wouldn't be opposed to either.

I suppose so... Sometimes it's good to have some answers for weird stuff instead of guessing, even if sometimes puzzles can be fun too.

[ Again she sort of shrugs and makes to pet the bat on her lap, curling up some more on her bed as she shifts the thing closer to herself.

... Which does put her off center on screen oops ]

[ He laughs softly but doesn't say anything, just watching her pet the bat and wishing he could pet it too. ]

I just wanted to say that I haven't told my friend yet about the teeth and I'm kind of scared to but I think I will after this. I think it's nice to talk to someone who is also got a vampire thing going on, you know?

I agree, actually. I've only met you, myself, and one other person.

[ who will remain nameless because that seems like a douchey thing to out. ] I've only become so public in order to ... well, make sure people know, just in case.

So few... I'd thought that since vampire is a common monster type that there would be more.

Do they know if they are the created kind or the born kind?

Mine are born and as for them... I mean, I shouldn't reveal too much about some third person's identity, but I think created.

I won't ask for any more information. I'm just trying to figure it all out, that's all.

I'm not sure what mine are.

Mmmm. Well, I can tell you more about my own situation, but I can already tell you it's not the same world. Or at least, I would be genuinely surprised if it was, given what we've already discussed.

[ He reached up to tap one of his fangs and it pulls back, making him frown a little. ] I need to figure out how to get them to stop popping out and in...

Unless it's general information, like silver affecting you or holy symbols?

No and no. Vampires are some biological species there, so none of those spiritual things do anything to them.

[ . . . She laughs though, leaning back in her bed. She keeps her red eyes focused, and then as she narrows them, they turn cat-like for a moment. ]

I know doing this relates to me getting tense for focused. Could it a similar thing?

I wish I had more information to go by besides knowing that he had been human once.

[ And the flash of that woman grabbing him. There wasn't anything else, nothing about weaknesses or anything except the thing with light. Tarr leaned in closer to watch the switch with her eyes, chewing on his lower lip cautiously. ]

Maybe..? I would have to practice to see if it's that.
